Sorry he was the HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD and I just expect a little more from someone like that. He's lived off his God given talent (and he has boatloads of it) and should be at the top of the sport giving all comers a hard time. I've known and played ball with others like him. One used to show up stoned an hour late to practice every day and a year later was starting for the White Sox straight out of high school. I'm no one, a part-time weekend warrior who played college/semi-pro level sports and never accomplished anything near what Ruiz has. I also had to learn to walk again from an accident. I'm 5'11" 200 lbs in my mid 40's and promise I could give Andy Ruiz a run for his money in ANY athletic discipline outside a boxing ring from powerlifting to cycling to swimming to running to a combat challenge. I understand not everyone (especially at heavyweight) needs to look like AJ or Vlad but I looked like a bodybuilder when I was Ironman training not because I was trying to but because it was a simple by-product of the training I was doing. I'm sure he tries hard at times but pretty sure he's also lazy and inconsistent (and simply doesn't give a ****e) way too often as well.
It's hard to get and stay thin when you were raised as a fat kid. Your body gets chemically addicted to certain foods, so, yes, it takes an enormous amount of will and discipline to change that. It's pretty easy to disparage and dismiss Andy's work ethic based on his body, but, like him or not, he's an elite athlete who has worked harder than most people on this site.Comment

Andy should get himself a good nutritionist if he hasn't already. Someone that will prepare healthy meals for him during training camp.
Being disciplined and sticking to a well thought out diet and exercise plan almost always yields positive results. Regardless of genetics.

I am sure you're quite buff and handsome, but I am not the person to validate you. Maybe post your selfies on Instagram?

This would have been an interesting fight if it had happened 4 years ago. Unfortunately, Ortiz is finally showing his age as was seen in his last fight with Charles Martin. The younger Ruiz should have the advantage in speed and stamina departments.Comment

I am both lol but unfortunately for you I'm not on any social media (can't stand any of it) nor am I 15 so I don't take/post "selfies" either like every other douchebag in the gym so you'll just have to use your imagination and take my word for it. I don't need and wasn't looking for validation from you or anyone else (though if you need some I'm sure I can dig up some triathlon pics I was too cheap to buy from the last few years). Already said I was no one and just a weekend warrior. I was trying to make a point that Ruiz looks the way he does because he has crappy discipline and doesn't train nearly as hard or as consistently as he could. I promise you if he spent a year with the Klitschko brothers (I've read some truly superhuman training stories for the both of them) and actually showed up on time and listened to them that you wouldn't be able to recognize him. He'd probably also still be a champion too because I'm certain his performance and engine, as good as both are already, would improve noticeably. Don't take my word for it, ask Manny Robles next time you see him (or the countless other trainers he's gone through who he didn't want to show up for). Dude was given an amazing God-given (or wherever else you believe it comes from) talent, doesn't want to listen to anyone and seems to do just enough to be competitive. Sorry I'm not better than anyone but I was raised different than that and have zero sympathy for someone who can't show up on time (or at all), can't make the effort and can't stop shoveling food into their mouth. I was always a fan of his. Some guys like Adrien Broner have the talent and unfortunately lose the plot. Others like Tyson Fury were somehow able to turn it around. I've always cheered for Andy and I hope he gets his **** together and becomes a champion again and not just another one hit wonder who squandered his talent. We shall see.Last edited by sidefx996; 08-30-2022, 08:04 PM.Comment

Oh and homeboy bought a $450k Rolls Royce after his big fight but didn't think to get a personal trainer, a nutritionist and a personal chef like every other pro athlete on the planet. And it's simple. Stop buying cupcakes and shoveling them down your throat. Period. It's not that hard. It's not cancer.
