Lara was the one who ducked Andrade, so stop this nonsense about Andrade ducking Lara. Andrade called him out, but the Cuban never expressed any interest in that fight.

Lara who held a 154 WBA belt for 2 years was backed by a very influential and cunning manager named Decubas, who people suspect is in collusion with WBA. The fight was in huge demand at that time, yet Decubas would rather make fights like Yuri Foreman, Gausha, etc. that he knew don't even draw flies. It wasn't a surprise because they couldn't even unify with the Charlo sisters, who each had their own belts and who also reside in their own house and street.

Hilarious part is how can Andrade duck Lara when there was no offer made? Shouldn't Lara and Decubas call Andrade's bluff first by making an offer? How can you duck something without an offer on the table? Are people really this ****** or what?

Yeah, Andrade got tired of waiting. It was obvious Decubas and Lara, who were backed by Showtime and powerful Haymon, were never going to send any offer to Andrade. They're more into scouting bums and vitctims for Lara's yearly pension of $1 million per fight.

Yeah, Andrade in exasperation said he doesn't want the boring Cuban anymore. This is common when you're getting frustrated and nothing is getting done. Spence said it. Crawford said it, yet it's getting made isn't it? Bottom line was Lara and Decubas had zero interest in the fight.

It's unfortunate because Andrade's major comeback fight was fighting on a PBC undercard. He got bored waiting for another offer and signed with HBO.

Nobody ever talked to us about money. We were told by Showtime that [Lara] didn’t want the fight. We went to Germany and he beat Culcay. He did everything he had to do. We came back. Lara was talking about fighting Demetrius Andrade. We came back and what Showtime told us was he didn’t want the fight – he wasn’t interested in doing the fight. But I’m telling you, there was no conversation with Al [Haymon, Lara’s manager] or any of the promoters that are working with Al or anybody about what the money was. We never got that far. We were told [Lara] didn’t want the fight after Demetrius beat Culcay. That’s exactly what happened.

We let it go because that was weeks ago. Then there was an article that came out on [BoxingScene.com] that had Lara saying we priced ourselves out of the fight. There was never any discussion of money. It was that Lara wanted to fight [IBF champion Jarrett] Hurd or somebody else. He did not want to fight Andrade.

That’s the whole reason we took that chance to go to Germany to take that fight. Nobody wanted to see Culcay and Andrade fight. We didn’t want the fight because we only got 25 percent of the purse. But at the end of the day, it was the road to Lara, to force Lara to fight us. If we could’ve jumped right to Lara, right then on Showtime, we would have.

Showtime was willing to back the fight. Showtime told us they offered Lara the fight. And they turned it down and said they wanted a tune-up first. Then we came back from Germany, expecting that we were gonna get a Lara fight in July or something like that. Now Lara’s actually telling people publicly that we priced ourselves out of it. We just fought Culcay for $75,000. How much money does he think that we want?

Andrade accepted the Culcay fight only after Lara revealed he would face faded former junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (34-3, 10 KOs, 1 NC) on January 13. Showtime wouldn’t televise Lara-Foreman, which Lara (24-2-2, 14 KOs) won by fourth-round knockout, thus Spike aired it three months ago from Hialeah, Florida.

Promoter Artie Pelullo was under the impression that Erislandy Lara and his fighter, Demetrius Andrade would be able to strike a deal for a junior middleweight unification fight in the coming months.

But with Lara now, according to Pelullo, looking for a unification fight with fellow titleholder Jarrett Hurd instead, Andrade, the undefeated southpaw, is now in need of an opponent for either June or July, Pelullo told RingTV.com on Thursday.

We were under the impression that we were going to get Lara after the fight (referencing Andrade’s win last month in Germany against Jack Culcay for a secondary belt). Now Lara is back-pedaling and he doesn’t want the fight. So, we’re in a position now that we’re looking for a fight for Demetrius Andrade. And it’s not an easy task because he’s a dangerous guy. I was told that Lara wanted to go in a direction of fighting Hurd for the unified title but in my opinion I think it’s an easier fight for Lara and that’s why he wants it.
