RJJ sounds off on Andrade being AVOIDED

He also ducked the other Charlo, Sergey, Lara.
Also had to hold on for dear life when Liam Williams almost had him out...Comment

He said he wanted Lara then said "Nope only as a last resort"
Andrade also has a history of avoiding Lara, and Jermell. So the storyline that he is doing anything he can to get the big fights doesn't resonate with me.
He is doing what almost every other fighter is doing - taking on as little risk as possible and trying to get paid as much as possible.
Having a belt and being featured on TV isn't relevant either. It's about money.
I think it's clear Andrade could have done a lot more to get himself in position for the big fights. But he didn't want to take those risks, and that's fine too. But I'm not going to feel sorry for the guy in that regard. He has himself to blame, a lot.Comment

Makes my blood boil even more when I see this Andrade also ducked Lara nonsense when in fact it was the exact opposite. Andrade became in fact mandatory to Lara's belt and for some unknown reason nothing was offered to Andrade from the Lara camp. Lara and Decubas with the possible WBA collusion, instead fought Gausha, a complete nobody at that time.Comment

All he does is fight pigeons. He doesn’t even try to fight tuff. He has fight guys who are WELL KNOWN very good fighters. He can’t make Canelo or anyone else money by fighting nobodies and EXPECT to get paid like he matters.Last edited by MONGOOSE66; 08-24-2022, 01:58 PM.Comment

Wo0f...
You can claim he's been ducked, but he's also done his share of ducking.
Here is the article on Derevy as one guy mentioned.
There was almost a second meaningful middleweight fight made for December 16. Keith Connolly, Sergiy Derevyanchenko’s manager, told BoxingScene.com that the unbeaten middleweight agreed to face Demetrius Andrade on the Billy Joe Saunders-David Lemieux undercard December 16 in Laval, Quebec. The deal was almost finalized, but Andrade withdrew from negotiations because the undefeated contender didn’t think he had enough time to prepare for such a difficult fight against Derevyanchenko (11-0, 9 KOs).
And even if you say 7 weeks wasn't enough, why not fight him early the following year? Derevy has shown he will fight anyone.

Huh?
"Demetrius Andrade wants to have a world title around his waist before he goes on to fight the winner of a bout between World Boxing Council titleholder Jermell Charlo and Charles Hatley.
That leaves a short list of potential foes. One name at the bottom of the list is World Boxing Association beltholder Erislandy Lara.
“Don’t get me wrong. Lara is an interesting fight because he also is slick. But that last fight against Vanes Martirosyan, he tried to stay in the pocket a little bit, he felt comfortable with somebody he’s already fought before, which I don’t know if he’ll do that with somebody like me,” Andrade told BoxingScene.com late last month.
“I don’t know. If that’s the last resort, than yeah, I’m going to take the fight,” he said.
But it otherwise doesn’t interest him as much.
“He won’t engage or try and make the fight entertaining, especially if it’s coming into my favor,” Andrade explained. “He’s just going to survive, try to run, try to do the little pitty-pat counter punches. I’m not about that right now. I’m about sitting in there, doing what I need to do best, and letting the fans know that I’m willing to get in there with anybody and put on a show and make ends meet.”
Interestingly, while Andrade doesn’t want the WBA “super” titleholder in Lara, he would be OK with facing the secondary titleholder, Jack Culcay, who holds the sanctioning body’s “regular" belt. Andrade doesn’t know much about Culcay.
“I just heard of his name, that he has the WBA,” Andrade said. “I’m trying to get a title shot so I can put a belt up against Charlo where it’s big, not me trying to fight for the belt he has, even though I’m going to take it.”
I ask again - HUH??? lolComment

LOL, Lara was a 3 fight showtime deal aka Alan Haymon but we can pretend it wasn't. They talked about it and it faded into nothing.
Charlo was 10 yrs ago when Rocnation was offering 8 million to Thurman and 40 million to Broner. Charlo was 200k for his belt vs 1.8 million for Rocnation. The Jermall of then got beat to the punch by Vanes. In fact, if you search real hard, there is a video with the Charlos where Jermall literally tells Jermell your 0 has to go. Better match up today vs Andrade
Andre Rozier talked about the Sergey fight. Someone even posted it but I guess he was lying.
Regardless BJS, Charlo 2, GGG (esp), Munguia and/or Canelo should have happened given DAZN has monster purses to back any of those fights.
