Good fight. Wilder can't make the December deadline because he's fighting in October and Joyce, Parker, and Andy also have fights coming up leaving Wallin as the only decent boxer available.

The people saying Dubious is a better option than Wallin must be idiots.

They'll sell the "Made Fury bleed" angle.
They'll say he did better against Fury than Wilder did.
That angle mixed with the classic White Vs. Black fighter is enough to sell it.

Wallin is a purely negative fighter. And I don't mean his behaviour but his fighting style. He almost has no offence. No power, low output and very repetitive punch solution, lots of tying. He nullifies the opponents offence well but he has hardly any of his own either. This is the recipe of a snoozefest. Promoters don't like snoozefests, fans don't like snoozefests and fighters don't like opponents with a tiresome safety first style. Wallin will likely never get a good fight until he is old and a young gun will want the name that gave Tyson Fury a tough fight on their record.

After the Sokolowski and Breazeale fights it will be very hard to gain interest for any of his fights. Low money, low reward, high risk and doesn't move career ahead even with a victory. This is why he doesn't get fights.

Sometimes we forget that we don’t handle these boxers’ careers.

I see a lot of posts commenting on who would be the right opponent for a comeback fight, but not who it is the fans actually want to see.

Fight someone decent. Doesn’t have to be a world beater, but don’t fight a tomato can. We wanna be entertained, that’s all

he was complaining in the build up that he hates fighting southpaws

However you rate Wallin, he’s near the back of the queue of who AJ would fight next. They will avoid any southpaw with a bit of boxing ability.

Doesn't matter how they try to sell it
Who the hell is Otto Wallin?
              Us Fans won't be interested
That fight would perform better in the UK only

I think it’s actually a decent fight myself. It gives the chance for AJ to best a past Fury opponent, hopefully better than Fury did. Plus it’s a respectable fight. I think it should happen, not to mention the fact that AJ has just about run the gamut on all the others outside of Wilder and Fury; which we know aren’t happening!

He's tried to trade a decent loss for too much and missed out. That's why ended up with Rydell Booker.

He should be aiming for Whyte at the highest, or the likes of Hunter. Maybe even Chisora but I suspect Del will hold out for big money fights.
I think part of the problem is that alot of the fighters near his ranking don't want to fight him either. He's not an attractive opponent because 1) he's a difficult opponent and 2) he brings no revenue or fanbase. He also fights under a second-tier promotional banner that can't place him on undercards to keep him relevant.

A year or so ago, Luis Ortiz was looking for an opponent and Wallin said yes. Phone calls between teams were made and Ortiz team went silent. Whyte feigned injury to get out of his fight with Wallin last October. Wallin lost his ranking thru inactivity chasing those fights.

He needs to stay active and fight anyone so that way he can move up the rankings and force the issue. The problem with that is fights cost money and I'm not sure his promoter can foot the bill for the active fight schedule that Wallin needs.

Great fight for AJ, if he decides to do something later this year. Wallin wants to face the best and I wouldn't rule this one out! Fights like this will give AJ some time to improve over the next year(s), keeps him relevant, and there's no pressure to "keep" the titles or the monumental pressure of getting the titles back- especially against a guy like Usyk who clearly outclasses him 6 days out of the week.
