I don't think thin AJ WON the 9th...I think Usyk GAVE him the 9th with the intention of letting him empty his tank, which is what he did. Usyk was comfortably ahead at that point and used the 9th to be able to dominate 10-11 & 12 strong and maybe find a KO. He was never hurt and obviously not tired. AJ got baited like a newby and blew his load.

If he took a 'round off' he misjudged the situation terribly! And why would he take punches in the cause of having a 'round off'?

The judge's scorecards were BS. I couldn't give AJ more than 3 rounds, if that many and most people saw it the same way. Usyk has a pretty study chin...I don't think he was hurt, and he really didn't take many punches at all...most missed or were not clean.

Gonna have to watch it back and am particularly intrigued what the corner were telling him this time.

But think of some Wlad, Fury performances.

There was very little close up, clinches, dirty boxing, leaning on the opponent, ref warnings.

I watched it again and I mostly agree with you. I still think AJ got the round but it wasn’t as clear as I remembered it. At the time though, the commitment to the body was so obviously the right thing to do, that it left me with a more positive impression than the round deserved.

I didn’t get a chance to watch the fight in real time, so when having read all the comments of the live thread and having watched the fight later on, I felt like the initial reaction of some was more emotional than rational.
