He's not a boogeyman. Which actually makes the fact Benn won't fight him worse.
He's a decent, solid, top 10 ranked guy at the weight who Conor Benn won't fight for some reason.
Even though he said he'd fight the winner of him vs Josh Kelly, because he thought Kelly was going to win.. -

Only Connor Benn has ducked him, and really that was only a quasi-duck.
Aavanesyan is the European champ. Benn appeared to be on a path to contend for that title - but then Aavanesyan demolished Kelly and Taylor and all of a sudden fighting him didn't look to be the right idea.
Benn fought Van Heerden instead, who is about the same level, so it's not really fair to call it a duck. More like he leapfrogged him to an equally dangerous but bigger name opponent.Last edited by paulf; 08-10-2022, 05:12 PM.Comment

He moved to Queensbury. Enough said.
I hate the politics, but Avaneseyans chances of fighting Benn at that point died... As did his chances of landing much big as Queensbury have very little to offer him and probably not enough clout either.
He's a very good boxer, but not the boogeyman. Just a man who has made bad choice and is trying to create this image to make himself feel better.Comment
