Jones has similar mythological status to Mike Tyson, in both cases the excuses for their first couple of losses don't hold up to logical scrutiny other than they just weren't quite as good as some make out.

The reality of Jones is he was a drugs cheat, his record has some good wins but also a HELL of a lot of trash and missing names. Tarver just had his number.

How did Tarver have his number if he beat Tarver?

Tarver, Johnson, and calzaghe all beat a post heavyweight Roy that was 36 and over. That's not the real Roy Jones
Griffin was ahead in a scorecard. Other scorecards were extremely close. Griffin was dominating Jones in the last round until DQ. Jones had a good chance to lose by decision.

Griffin was a midget with 178 cm reach and still landed more punches. Moreover, he landed half of his punches.

Canelo and Calzaghe would be problem for any Roy. Jones would have to fight with his A+ game for Canelo's smart pressure.

You put up punch stats. Those aren't scorecards.

58:48 official scorecards. Roy was up on 2 out of 3 cards. Actual facts.

Improve ur reading skills. I already said "Griffin was ahead in "a" scorecard".

And, punch stats show that judges were generous to Jones.

I don’t know what fight you were watching but Griffin was not “dominating” the 9th round before the KO.

If anything he was losing the round before he was even hurt. He was on the verge of getting stopped before the theatrics.

Sometimes I feel like Jones had this aura of the speed of Naseem Hamed, and power of David Haye. Lots of un orthodoxy and charisma thrown in.

It's quite a big compliment. But they were beatable, and so was Roy by some.

I'm a huge Calzaghe fan and used to favour him over prime Roy and Hopkins. I'm less confident as times gone on, or less biased. He's a problem for both in their primes, sure, but prime Roy still beats him.

Roy beats a prime Ward too. But strong, technical, hard hitting LHW's is where his prime losses mighta laid more..

And I said jones was up on the scorecards. Which is facts. It takes 2 out of 3 cards to win a fight. Not 1.

punchstats aren't how you score a fight. You can build a punch stats lead with one big round.

Griffin was about to get knocked out when the ref saved him.
