Not the worst, but those who tuned in were treated to a terrible ref performance, a one sided boring HW fight, despite the broadcast team's attempts at pretending it was at all exciting. Then a main event where one guy had cement shoes and the other too afraid to go for a KO.

makes me think, if the figures are enough for showtime to continue in the boxing business, why wasn’t enough for HBO… maybe they were paying out larger sums of $ to host the fights? I really miss Kellerman and the gang. Can’t wait for Mares to resume his boxing career. Hopefully that means they’re pulling him from the broadcasting team lol.
Jim Lampley has spoken candidly about what AT&T's buyout of HBO meant for boxing. HBO's boxing coverage was effectively a boutique offering which the bean counters at the new ownership had no interest in.

Why do people continue to view ratings with a “pre covid, HBO” mindset?

The networks need to realize diehards are tuning in but not casuals because so much else is available.
So cater to us with better fights and cards. Might not get casuals but at least were happy.

Boxing is becoming overpriced because of the Saudi sell out. It's not really in the networks' gift to force big fights anymore. We have this absurd situation where two lightweight contenders (Garcia and Tank) are negotiating like they are prime Trinidad and De La Hoya. There needs to be a correction in the market before things improve.

Pbc is money laundering. That’s it.

I get your point but in the era of network exclusive deals they have more leverage.

We know Tank and Ryan aren’t as good as Felix or Fishnets yet all 4 have network exclusive deals as fighters.

Get rid of the network exclusive deals.

Was not aware. Thanks for the insight.
