    Thurman Never Ducked Spence

I always see everyone saying Thurman clearly ducked Spence. It’s spoken like a fact and even Errol vows to never fight Keith because he says he avoided him for years. That’s not even true. Keith defended his WBA tittle against former champions Guerrero and Collazo in 2015, then beat Porter in 2016, then unified with Danny in March 2017. Spence fought Bundu and Algieiri in 2016. Then won his first belt in May 2017. Thurman was injured after that and didn’t fight for 2 years until 2019. When did he duck him? Before 2015 Spence was fighting guys I don’t know. Then he was on the IBF path until he was Kell Brook’s mandatory not Keith’s Mandatory. Was Keith supposed to not fight big name former welterweight champions like Guerrero, Collazo, and Porter. And not unify with Garcia, to fight Spence? If Keith didn’t get hurt they would have definitely fought at the end of 2017 to unify the WBA, WBC, and IBF. Are people mad he got hurt? Errol finally did unify the 3 belts against Ugas 5 years later. It is disappointing, but IMO its clearly injuries not ducking.

Mayweather took the pressure off himself by pushing the Thurman is ducking Spence narrative, because Thurman was his mandatory and he didn't want to fight him, despite Spence being nobody at the time and Thurman calling Floyd out for years. Thurman had earned a shot imo.

Its the old bait and switch tactic.

GGGeezer ducked Kamil rematch. That's worse.

I agree with the Mayweather switch. Floyd didn’t want to defend against Thurman. So he said fight Spence first. But Spence was nobody at the time. Even compared to Guerrero, Collazo and Porter.

This topic is a WASTE of space. If Old man Pac can whip Thurman……………………….?

De La Hoya, Hatton, Mosley, Vargas, Pacquiao, Mayweather, Forrest, Margarito, Tszyu, and many more.

In the late 90's, 2000's and early 2010's. The Welter Weight division was pretty much the greatest division in boxing.

Not only that, the competitors and fights produced were the best since 'The Fabulous Four, Duran, Leonard, Hagler and Hearns' etc.

Since Floyd Mayweather Junior's retirement the division has tanked. The entire Welter Weight divisions has completely tanked.

I'm the biggest Thurman fan on the site: "ducking" isn't the right word - Keith disrespected Errol Spence. Openly. He was right to say Spence wasnt a big enough name yet to unify, he was wrong to disrespect him and act the way he did.

And there was nothing Spence could do about it at the time because he wasn't a big enough name to make that fight happen.

Now that the shoe is on the other foot, Spence is making Thurman feel the exact same way - stuck on the outside with no way in.

it’s actually the opposite. Thurman had always been overly friendly and respectful towards Spence. If he was doing a broadcast with him or mentioning him, it was sickening to me how respectful he was. He would show so much respect and say he’s trying to get back from injuries. Say he’s not even ready to face someone of Spence’s caliber. That’s the utmost respect. Before Spence got his belt he was fighting Bundu and Phil Lo Greco’s. Building his name up. Funny thing is nobody expected Errol to fight Boots instead of Porter and Danny. Exactly what Thurman did with Porter and Danny. And Boots has been screaming For that fight for two years.

regardless of fmw jr antics, those 2 still haven't fought in like 6 years on the same platform with the same manager. someone doesn't want the fight, or someone is out of options and looking for a retirement check. fmw jr can't stop 2 dudes from fighting each other this long. that's like blaming canelo for jermall charlo not fighting andrade.
