Comments Thread For: Joshua Buatsi-Jean Pascal: IBF Formally Orders Light Heavyweight Title Eliminator

Jean Pascal punched his way back into title contention at the right time. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the International Boxing Federation (IBF) formally ordered a light heavyweight title eliminator between Quebec's Pascal and London's Joshua Buatsi on Friday. The two sides will be granted a free negotiation period to work out terms for such a fight to determine the IBF mandatory challenger to lineal and unified light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (18-0, 18KOs).

I approve. Hearn was off base trying to get Bautsi to fight Bivol. That was just dumb.

Better if Buatsi and Pascal draw, and delay the inevitable.

Beterbiev would eat both of them alive in the same evening.

Buatsi won’t take the fight, Pascal works him.

Even at nearly 40, Pascal would be the best guy Buatsi’s been in there with. Don’t mind this fight.

Let's see if Hearn, who has never been big on additional random testing, insists on it for this fight.

Pascal is a great fight for him at this point IMHO. Not sure he wins it, but he's not beating the champs anyway at this time. IBF is clearly the best to be the mando, but he may have to decline if the shot comes too soon against beterbiev. Not a bad position to be in though as a big fight canelo could cause the title to vacate.

Fair play, Pascal beat Meng, despite Jean's terribly bad drugs violations.

Did you just make this up? Matchroom boxers always get tested for main events particularly.
