lol at the stans. The entire time preceding this fight, they insisted that it wasn't a full fledged welterweight fight because of the catchweight deal.
All of sudden, Floyd pulls a fast one,
even though his loyal band of jesters think he can get to 140,
and comes in over weight and its suddenly a welterweight fight.
Spin City at its finest.Comment

The stans are amazing. this isnt about 2lbs. its the principle. floyd beats him at any weight, but now he broke a contract to gain a further advantage to which he already has every advantage. its not like he couldnt make the weight, so y pull this for marquez? y open urself up to criticism? as a leader in the game its a ****ty attitude and sets a pretty bad example. you'll beat him regardless atleast have the decency to honor a godamn contract. You wonder why this fight never sold out, well there ya have it. an already tuneup fight became even less than a tuneup. 2lbs may be 2 lbs but an advantage is an advantage regardless of how big. y open urself up to criticism :s.Comment

So a sport that had people spitting blood, acquiring brain related diseases, ending up in a coma, or if they aint lucky enough...dies in the ring... NOT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY?
My guess:
Mayweather relies on timing/speed/accuracy/stamina. Those are the attributes that erode the most during a layoff. Not power or chin.
So, Floyd wanted a tuneup-ish fight, but didn't want to call it a tuneup. So, instead of fighting Collazo or Hlatschwayo or Quintana, he takes a smaller guy. Boxing history is littered with examples of champions returning from a loss or layoff by taking a smaller guy. Oscar took Forbes and hatton took Lazcano. After his loss, Shane took Estrada. A journeyman.
But, anyway, I heard Marquez say "quiero pelear con mayweather a cientos cuarenta o un poquito mas". Well, here ya go. Marquez has great name recognition, and could pull in the Mex crowd. A Collazo fight would not be NEARLY as big as this.
I'm entertained by the venom towards PBF on this board. i guess i just don't get it.
This is a good fight. A fair fight. I'm excited.
