You can’t “cherry pick” an undefeated champion in the division above. The standards for Canelo are absurd.

Bivol was the #2 guy in the division at worst and people are calling it a cherry pick. Unbelievable…

i just think team canelo thought it was a no risk fight, obviously bivols not some bum but i dont think it entered their heads for one second that he could lose especially given they had paid the 3 judges to give him the opening 4 rounds. canelo hasnt fought any good prime fighters since the 154lb days so i think people (including myself!) thought he was better than what he was, really hes shown no improvements whatsoever still that same plodder who mayweather fought, if the going gets tough then he has absolutely no ideas, ring IQ is just awful. im not convinced bivols that special i think what sets him apart from the recent trash that canelo has fought is that he didnt get caught up in the whole 'OMG im fighting canelo' bull****. some of those guys canelo fought before hand at 168 were beaten before the first bell, no real belief or intention to win, some of them even seem pleased with how they did saying they thought they proved they were elite by nicking a few rounds off of him. bivol showed what he is, some basic fighter, wow that fight must have been a real disappointment for those who were watching him for the first time, tuning into the see 'the great canelo' the p4p number 1 who beats heavyweights in sparring and who could fight usyk at cruiserweight. all that hype over nothing, again i cant say anything i thought it would take a better fighter than bivol to expose him, maybe a charlo/andrade type fighter or benavidez but that euro high guard with a basic 1-2 and a bit of movement was enough to make canelo look like a ****ing bum. will see how he looks in his next fight but i think hes a broken man now, maybe time to hand up the gloves at the end of the year cause he just cant do it against a young prime champion, its open season on him now unless he goes back to fighting washed up old fighters then hes going to find himself with plenty more losses, not worth his promoters paying off the judges any more they can find someone better to put their money behind, hes done

Source me please, no way I believe he went 2 fights flat to get a fight he wasn't even being considered for all those fights back.

But they did and Hearn said it. RJJ, the man you dream about at night with your pants around your cankles said it too. Did you have a bad car accident because you sound like your running on 40% capacity. They're literally saying it and you're like nope, not true.

Bivol beats everybody Canelo has ever fought.

A tough cherry pick, if you ask me.

We know he did. It's just another cherry pick gone left. This is precisely the reason why many fans are no longer like him as a fighter because he has become the sport's biggest coward and bitch for beating up on fighters with no chance of competitively fighting him back. He doesn't take any risks outside of the ring; None whatsoever. He's the low risk fighting king.

Bivol is good but team canelo (and all of his fans on here before the fight was announced) believed the was a much easer fight than Benavdez.

You know you look off the back of there’s a lot of fighters Chris that have come off performances you know in the pandemic, through the pandemic, they looked a little bit flat. You look at Dmitry Bivol you know against Craig Richards and before that against Castillo, those performances didn’t tell you that, that form would beat Canelo Alvarez

Those are the exact words. You lost, bend the knee and admit defeat like a man!

It really doesn’t matter but ultimately he moved up to 175 and challenged one of the top fighters at the weight. It didn’t work out. You can call it a cherry pick if you prefer but it makes no difference.
This happens in all big fights, rarely does a Champ go in thinking they not going to win, and rarely does anyone pick an opponent they think they cannot beat.

****** thread about what happens all the time in boxing.

It's not ******. Hearn picked Bivol because he looked weak in his last 2 fights. That is called cherry-picking. The same reason they turned down Andrade for 40M and took 35M for a broke down Kovaquit who was almost knocked out by a no sparring Yarde in the fight before, put Kova on short notice, and Kova had just got sparked by nobody Eleider Alvarez before Yarde. they cherry-picked him instead of taking a fight against an undefeated fighter who's slick.

Go tell RJJ, Tarver, and Malignaggo they're ****** for saying it wasn't a cherry pick and they'll have security remove you by the scruff.
