Comments Thread For: Kevin Lerena Expects To Face Dangerous Heavyweight in September

Heavyweight contender Kevin Lerena is expecting to have a dangerous fight in his new division in the coming months. Lerena did as much as he felt he could in the cruiserweight division, where he retained the IBO world title six times. He had issues making the cruiserweight limit of 200 and decided to make the full leap to heavyweight.

Maybe someone told him that 6'1" was a little short for a modern heavy? That would explain the hair making him about 6'5"

Lerena might box around Wach, but ain't no way in hell he's stopping him. Wach scoring a KO wouldn't shock me either

Wach sounds like a good opponent. Wach had been showing up in better shape in recent fights. If he is in shape Lerena could be looking up the lights when it’s all said & done. I don’t know much about him. I thought he might consider the Bridgeweight division. Dinu is a decent 1st win at HW but we all know he looks for a place to lay down these days.

Wach is a retread that wasn't that good in his prime. Of course, Lerena never faced any of the top cruiserweights, so why would anyone expect him to risk fighting a dangerous heavyweight?

This will be a good 2nd test for Lerena at heavyweight. The Heavyweight Division Titles will be tied up for the next 2 years or so. Rodney Berman needs to keep him active and try and break him into the top 10 so he can force a title shot. He probably needs to fight more in the UK and USA to get himself more exposure. Maybe if he beats Wach easily needs to come to UK and fight Hughie Fury to get noticed.
