Dillian whyte was #1 contender for much longer waiting on wilder no one cared and made the wbc immediately give him a belt. He waited years before they broke him off an interim. Haney ditched Eddie now he’s getting everything he dreamed of. Not hard to see what the issue was in his career

There was no ducking. Loma was unifying the division. Haney just had to wait. Like kambosos did. If Haney had waited he would’ve got the fight against Teo before kambumsauce. There also wouldn’t have been a rematch clause because he would’ve been the WBC mandatory. Matchroom did not care. Eddie Hearn is the queen of paper belts. He’s made a living off of picking up vacant belts and holding them hostage. It’s how Haney/andrade/ggg/Liam smith /callum smith all were able to call themselves champions without ever fighting a champion. If Haney had waited he wouldve got a MUCH better payday no rematch in Australia clause. He’s a great fighter that’s gonna do well he’s lucky he got out early. If he had stuck around with matchroom his career would’ve gone the andrade route. Now we’ll see haney vs Stevenson/loma/Teo/taylor/prograis at the very least. Top Rank asked for Franchise Champion status which meant that the winner of Lomachenko vs Teofimo would NEVER be mandated to fight Haney.

Bob Arum always froze Haney out because he "signed with the wrong promoter." The only way Devin finally got his shot was by leaving Matchroom,accepting a terrible deal, and chaining himself to Top Rank for several fights.

So yes, that was a duck. And scumbag behavior from the promoter that billeau2 calls "Satanic Bob."

Ask andrade who has GGG right there under the same banner for years but Eddie won’t make the fight cause he saving lil for his boss canelo. Do you think matchroom boxing makes money? Haney just had to sit tight but he refused to do that. In the end it doesn’t matter they’ll fight anyways soon but don’t put haneys poor career management decisions on others. By your logic Tyson fury was ducking dillian whyte. How dumb does that sound? And loma fighting haney now will be worse for him he’s older and Haney is less green so ducking a green Haney while at his physical best to fight a more progressed haney while getting older himself doesn’t make a lot of sense.

They ducked Haney by asking for Franchise Champion status. That made sure that NEITHER Lomachenko nor Teofimo could ever be ordered/forced to fight Haney.
