it’s not about what the result might be in a rematch, it’s about the entitlement of it. If the guy who won, did so in convincing fashion, he should be able to decide who he wants to fight next, not be obligated to fight someone just because they used their status to enforce it. As for the fights you mentioned, morales vs pac and berto vs Ortiz were highly competitive fights. With Cotto and Margarito, the competitiveness/action of the first fight and controversy surrounding it made sense and it was years later. Different scenario.
Erik Morales beat Manny in decisive fashion in the first fight. The rematches gave us a memorable trilogy.
Hasim Rahman beat Lennox Lewis in decisive fashion in the first fight. The rematch gave us a memorable knockout to avenge.
Margacheato beat Cotto decisively in the first fight. The rematch gave us a memorable beating to avenge.
Ortiz beat Berto decisively in the first fight. The rematches gave us an ATG trilogy.
Rematches make perfect sense as long as it's understood: whoever wins twice, that's it. You move on.
Real warriors want a chance to prove it was a fluke.
We need to celebrate that.

Rolly fought with heart. But he definitely does not deserve a immediate rematch. He can string together some victories and earn his shot shin.Comment

Hmmm, his thoughts should be “easy money” and “sure”.NEW YORK - Gervonta Davis laughed when he was informed during their post-fight press conference that Rolando Romero requested an immediate rematch a few minutes earlier Sunday morning.

Rolly punches wide and ain’t smart. Not my idea of PROFESSIONAL like Teo Teo, Shakur, Haney or Loma.Comment

That's the weird part. It should not have been a difficult fight but it really was.Comment

I see your point, but this case is not quite the same as those you cited. Romero is an up and comer who talked his way into a championship shot and got KO'd in dramatic fashion. He got his shot and lost, he should not be able to talk his way into an immediate rematch. To get a rematch, he needs to get back in line and beat some other top contenders.

I’m not sure difficult is the right word. It was an awkward fight he got a 6th round knockout Rolly might of won a couple rounds but I never felt like Rolly was on the path to winning while watching it still felt like Rolly would need a knockout and tank was smart not to give him a chance at itComment
