Despite him clinching for dear life on multiple situations after getting pegged.

Doesn't matter.
Bottom line: rematches when it's a "perfect once-in-a-lifetime shot" that ended one of the fights frequently result in something special in the rematch especially if the mistake (because THAT is why he got caught) doesn't repeat.
We know that Tank didn't want nothing to do with that power. Okay, so Rolly gets a better ref that will let him do his thing, like Mark Nelson. Does Tank handle that mauling?
That's an open question that fight fans - real ones - should want to answer. There was a lot of smoke in this fight especially with that ref.Comment

Go back to after Teofimo was struggling with Nakatani. Listen to Ward.
"They've TALKED themselves into this fight..."
Teofimo was once that "up and comer who talked his way into a championship shot". What happened? He blew Commey out, then got his hand raised against Loma who didn't try for 6 rounds.
Our point: Talking yourself into shots shouldn't be looked down on. Better that fighters do that than what Crawford does which is sit on past laurels and complain about being ducked while getting overpaid to fight people he's supposed to beat, or Andrade who stinks a joint and then complains nobody wants to fight him (because he stinks joints out).
It's why we think highly - for the boxing BUSINESS - of guys like Cobbs, like Romero, like Fury, like Wilder, like CM Punk (Kambosos). Guys who can use their mouth and get fans to show up even if it's to see them get their ass kicked.Comment

yeah but he still needed a very dubious decision to get inline for a shot at a regular belt, the guy is just starting his career and needed help with the officials already, thats not a good sign at allComment

But you omitted the rest of my statement. Yes, Rolly talked himself into a title fight, and he GKTFO. He shouldn't get to talk himself into an immediate rematch. Now, he has to earn it. What about the other guys in the division who are working their butts off for a shot at Tank? Should they just wait around while Romero gets chance after chance to figure Tank out? And what about Issac Cruz? He gave Tank all he could handle and wants a rematch badly. Should he take a back seat to Romero just because Rolly got his feelings hurt?

not so sure I agree with that. I think tank just controlled the distance until Rolly started to slow down and started making mistakes. Bound to happen if all you throw are bombs. That’s where the inexperience creeps in.
In some ways reminiscent of Canelo’s loss against Bivol - throwing bombs constantly tires you out. There was no variety of pace or speed in Rolly’s shots. Each one was a knockout attempt. After a few rounds that slows down as tank knew it would - that’s where his experience kicks in.
Tank admitted as much in the post fight interview but he’s used that approach with every fight to one extent or another. He always boxes at range until he’s happy his opponent isn’t a threat and the closes the distance and the show - unless he’s injured. Takes a special fighter to still pull off the win against a quality opponent when injured.Comment

Not an immediate one, I agree, Casuals (the people who actually buy Tickets and PPV's) wouldn't be as interested in seeing him rematch a guy who he just stopped. Now Isaac Cruz however, since that went Decision and Pitbull fought him tough, I think that does make far more sense and is much more Marketable now that people know more about Cruz this time around compared to when he first fought him
Rolly just need to get back on the winning track, knock a couple of people out and yeah he would be right back in the mix and I would be all for it. I would keep an eye out on the 140 WBA Situation for Tank, Tank Davis vs Alberto Puello for that now Vacant WBA Belt is a OptionComment

Romero has to win a bunch of high profile fights before he gets a rematch or Davis loses along the road.Comment

People are just giving Rolly way too much credit for accomplishing nothing except getting knocked out by one punch in the 6th round. Post fight he said his strongest punch was his "stiff jab." Compubox reports Rolly landed only 3 jabs in six rounds. Joke. Rolly says he exposed Tank. Really, isn't it Tank who exposed Rolly for the overrated fighter he is. I get it . People like Rolly. They want to see more of him. I just won't pay to see him fight. His lack of humility and eagerness, after a 6th round knockout, to try to dupe me into watching him fight Tank again... Nah. We'll have none of that.
