My thoughts exactly, while an exciting fighter he is in no way a PPV star. PBC is taking advantage of the lax WBA title situation with bogus regular championships. So far the majority of his world belts have been the WBA regular title. If this PPV was what it should have been the number 1 contender vs a paper number X what would the buy rate be for this disguised regular Showtime card?

No... Ill eat crow but Tank said it best: That BS was to promote a fight and it worked. As boxing fans we have to start encouraging fighters to promote their fights... make it so the promoters are not necessary! This fight was very well promoted, and it was fun while it lasted.Comment

I’m gonna say something the boxing media won’t admit and many fans won’t like but it’s true.
if Boxing made the best fights, right now 135, 147, 154, 160, and 168 could be unified by black Americans. The hardest of those divisions is Jamall or Andrade beating David because he’s a big 168er.
Tank 135
Ennis 147
Spence 154 moved up
Jamell 160 moved up
Charlo at 168 moved up.
The only way I can explain so many white Americans rooting for Europeans instead of Americans is bias. It’s in the boxing media and it’s clear

will never know - will never risk that 0 and fight any fighter on his level. Will continue to fight any B-level pbc fighter with a Hispanic last name that only hard core fans have even heard of….Barrios, Cruz, Romero, or old past it names - Lsc, Gamboa. All mismatches with Davis the clear heavy favorite. Ellerbe will continue to use the “Davis A side and huge ppv attraction” as the excuse to avoid the top fighters who have called Davis out - Loma, Haney, Lopez, Garcia.Comment

It's marketing. Why have one star when you can profit from a bunch of them? How many rings do u have? Or pairs of kicks? Or suits? Or whatever? The racism excuse is so played out and tired; have some sense and dignity.Comment

Reading Southpawology & Progrssive-jedi
I think that because USA has owned so many of the titles over the years you may think differently but we support the British guy.
I'm from the UK & we wouldn't differentiate. Like, I've always supported Froch, Hatton, DeGale, Honeyghan, Andries, Lewis, Khan & Hamed. I think the vast majority of British fight fans wouldn't think about it. I would be shocked if e.g someone white said they wouldn't support Anthony Yarde or if someone black said they wouldn't support Callum Johnson just because of ethnicity. If you're British you should normally support the British guy.
I must admit, I am finding it hard to root for Conor Benn or Chris Eubank Jr but that is absolutely nothing to do with their ethnicity. It is to do with Conor Benn ducking Avanesyan & my man Ekow Essuman &, TBH, anyone with a pulse & Eubank's embarrassing, undignified pursuit of Kell Brook & both men's failure to go after top opposition.

Nor should he. Romero had his chance... Rolly has to mature a bit... he also has to watch and see how fighters in the past got it done in his same situation.Comment
