So who picked Plant for them?

Canelo wanted to be undisputed at 175. It's obvious. With all his talk about Beterbiev and moving up. Although, I saw this upset happening years ago if he ever fought Bivol. Matchroom needs better matchmakers if they believed that Bivol was a cherry pick. It was obvious to several that it was a suicide attempt on Canelo's part.

This was no cherrypick. This was Canelo thinking he's better than he really is.

Yep. He and also the most of his fans believed he would be able to beat unbeaten champs at light heavy.

          This hype was crazy.

Bivol is much better fighter than GGG and you know it, you just live in denial.

Canelo wanted to unify all the belts at 175lbs. That was Canelo's dream, not Eddie Hearn's.

How was he supposed to unify 175 without fighting any of the title holders?

Bivol is a carefull boxer who has won all his title defences by decision. Targetting him first, rather than the winner of Beterbiev/Smith, was a no-brainer, especially considering that Bivol is also a Matchroom fighter. It wasn't a cherry pick, and it wasn't bad matchmaking, it was the kind of calculated risk that ambitious fighters like Canelo have to take if they want to build themselves an ATG legacy.

Canelo was a huge favorite, but I didn't really understand why. People on this forum were wondering why they didn't do the GGG fight first, because Bivol was a very live dog whereas GGG is past it.

They have different styles. Bivol's style is vastly different than GGG. Styles make fights and Bivols style is ******nite to Canelo.

GGG vs Bivol, GGG would win. Bivol obviously had an easier time with Canelo, and we saw teh struggles and how Canelo hung in with GGG.

A few reasons. #1, unless you are a hardcore boxing fan, you did not follow Bivol. #2. If you KNOW Bivol, you already knew it would go 12 rounds.... and well, you generally don't get the decision against Canelo.

I KNEW Bivol would outbox Canelo, but I did not put money on it knowing Bivol would not KO Canelo, and well, odds are, he was not going to get a decision.... and we saw that against GGG, and how judges only had Bivol up by 1 round. lol.
