I hate to break it you but as good as Ennis' upside and potential is; I just don't see him defeating either Bud Crawford or Errol Spence, Jr, while they are yet still in their primes.

It's just not going to happen. You don't want to ruin this kid by cashing him out to soon. So please be patient with him. His time is coming. He is the future of the division.

Based on their 3 amateur fights (Ennis lost all of them) & what I'm seeing from them both in the pros, Russell steamrolls Ennis now if they fought right now.

But ... I'm not annointing him as the best fighter at 147 - he has to prove it.
      I agree

But on the eye test he looks the most skilled, the most dangerous. The important word is "looks" - not saying "he is" - again, he has to prove it.
      I agree

The thing is, proving it is difficult because he looks so good, so he has been and will continue to be avoided. Same thing happened to Golovkin until he got Brook. Same thing still is happening with Andrade.
50/50 agree with you here my friend.

I’d like to see him face a proven top level veteran next like Thurman, Ugas, Garcia etc.

If none of those guys will fight him, I’d look to get him in with Stanionis, Avanesyan, Kavaliauskas etc.
Nope. He is mandatory for Spence's IBF belt. As soon as the IBF enforces it, let them fight. Ennis isn't asking for tune-ups. He wants his shot now.

I just don’t think Crowley asks any questions of him, it would remind me of when they put Spence in with Algieri. Crowley would be a better test for Ortiz, as he could potentially outbox him for a few rounds, he’s not outboxing Boots. Hopefully, PBC throw enough money at Thurman, Ugas etc to get them in the ring with Ennis this year.
Ugas will be out for like 8-9 months at least but you know he would have taken the fight.

          Please make the Thurman fight!!!!

Crowley vs Ortiz would be good!

I agree I'd love to see him fight Thurman, Ugas or DSG but I believe they stay away from him because that loss may be career suicide and Stanionis, Avanesyan, and Kavaliauskas would be fun to see but I think they all end with a stoppage and another win for Boots that he wont get the credit for. Its gonna require one of the first 3 mentioned for him to prove himself.

On a side note Porter was the perfect guy to test Boots with IMO because of his approach in his fights. Even the Bud fight where it was stopped he made his mark and made it difficult but he decided to retire.

Yeah I’ve always said Porter would have been the perfect test, he’ll fight anyone too. Can’t blame him for retiring though, he had some tough fights.

Yeah that was a nasty injury. Thurman would be perfect to give him some name recognition too.

It would definitely be beneficial for Ennis to gain some more experience though, no matter how talented you are, you need those tests before jumping to elite level IMO.

What I'm sceptical of is that he looks like a big 147lber yet his best opponents so far have been blown up 140lbers. Is that just to make him look more spectacular or is there something more to it?

Either way, he looks good but yes the hype is out of control.

If he's believe he's ready, let him go.
