I was impressed with arm strategy with Callum Smith caught by surprise and really ****ed his arm up .. but like Bivol says .. I watched the Callum Smith fight .. it was a one trick tactic ... Bivol was waiting for him and had the skill to deal with it.

Based on the post-fight press conference, Bivol thinks frequent power shots are an inefficient use of energy, if his thoughts on Canelo’s ring strategy are anything to go by.

But he definitely does have power and he could definitely have had Canelo out of there if he had committed. Then we’d be in a whole new ball game. Saw him almost KO Smith jr. in round 12 of their fights, and he’s huge.
Had Bivol KO Canelo, The Ginger would never consider a rematch. Maybe that's why Bivol just outboxed him and didn't try to knock him out. Second fight would give Bivol a huge money. If the rematch happens, I am sure Bivol goes for KO.

Its possible, but Bivol doesn't get many KOs anyway. Never fires off more shots than he needs to, nor fires off hail mary shots. Just a proper boxer

Where team canelo messed up in their usually safe opponent selection process is that they assumed bivol was tentative and weak minded like the opponents he’s been facing for the past 4 yrs. And in all fairness, Bivols last 2 performances gave them reason to think that way. But, unlike Canelo’s previous opponents, bivol didn’t allow himself to be psyched out mentally, didn’t allow Canelo to dictate the pace, he let his hands go, stayed off the ropes, and didn’t accept the belief that Canelo was the better man.

Maksim Dadashev was a very close friend to Bivol. His wife and child are his neighbors. I think it has had an effect on him. If you know you might accidentally kill someone . . .

A tip from a pro ( me ) : if this is happening to you, smother your opponent, burry your head in his chest or rest on the shoulder, but see Saul does not like to clinch so that is a weakness.
great tip Ellie, if only Peter could divulge such advice to Hughie, we might possibly see more 'shades of Ali'.
btw Nikita such demolished an undefeated fighter in his 2nd fight in the 1st round, and just claimed in the post fighter interview, 'its the blood, i love this brutality'. my goodness
