I doubt this is possible at this point of his career. He isnt stronger than Bivol and cannot bully him, this stripped Canelo of his weapons effectively. Bivol has his number and will get the W in the rematch at 175 or 168.
Glad someone else has said it. Said it elsewhere, needs to get fitter, and stop looking for KO now, cos Bivol or a fighter like Bivol could do this to him at in any weight class

Too much for Canelo to overcome v Bivol, probably better for him to move on. I think he might start fading now as well. Not that he still won't be elite, I mean, but he should stay at his optimum and healthiest weight. I'd like the GGG fight.

This loss was almost entirely strategy and attribute-based. Calling it good big man against good little man is just an excuse for journalists to get away with superficial dismissals.

I’ll say it till I’m blue in the face (and I am), Bivol could have been a natural MW and 5’9” and he would have won if both were using the same game plan.
I think 160 lbs is a bit stretch for Bivol and, by the way for current beefed-up Canelo too, but I am pretty sure Bivol can boil down to 168 lbs and challenge the Ginger for all titles. If rematch happens, I guess, Canelo will insist Bivol to come down to SMW division. No way he will want to box with Bivol at LHW again. But I believe Bivol's style is all wrong for Canelo, Bivol beats him at 168 lbs too.

Oh for sure, he personally isn’t making 160.

But, I was trying to say that if Bivol, or anyone that fights exactly like him, was a 160 pounder, they’d always beat a Canelo that came in fighting like that, and that size is nowhere near as much to do with it as footwork, ring generalship, and superior hand speed.

You see with those attributes, Bivol could engage with Canelo at will, beat him to the punch, and then disengage without ever being in danger of Canelo catching him.

Biv was in the pocket for those exchanges, too, so gave up any reach advantage he might have had, plus his wide legged stance sees him fight ‘shorter’, anyway.

I'm definitely more interested in the rematch with Bivol than the trilogy with GGG I think Canelo can change it up and possibly beat Bivol. I'd much rather see him put himself out there than fight GGG but I get it if he doesn't. At the end of the day its Canelo's career and choice. He has made it to the top by making the right choices I dont see any reason to doubt he will this either. I can appreciate and respect the guy at this point even though I still won't call myself a super fan.

He should rematch and pay the judges more, he already met their main requirement of survive for 12 rounds he just didn't land enough. Punching arms/guard isn't a scoring shot, but looking at the scorecards... Maybe it is.

Mention made of Leonard and Hearns rematch. Hearns obviously won that rematch and was robbed. So remember that Lyle.

Idk how people so easily dismiss GGG. IMO the third fight with Canelo would again be a pick ‘em.

A LOT of y'all are dismissing the mindset of Dmitry. I don't care if you have all of his skills, if you don't have the mental fortitude to walk into the ring and OWN IT, you're not beating Canelo Alvarez. It wasn't just Bivol's skill and style. It was his mind.

Most fans don’t sweat the Leonard-Hearns rematch because the first fight was the real super fight; both guys in their prime at welterweight.
