This loss is on Canelos team

This is the 2nd time Canelo has lost due to his teams biting off more than they can chew.

Against Mayweather, Canelo was too young and too green. He simply was not ready for someone that was slippery with so much experience.

Here we are again, jumping up to light heavyweight and fighting a massive guy, too big for Canelo. Canelo didn’t have the power or size to be in there.

If Canelo would “arrive” to permanent 175lb status and was going to fill in and gain the weight, acclimate, then sure, let’s take the fight after working our way up.

Eddie Reynoso I feel sometimes thinks Canelo is Superman and gets lost in the matchmaking.

He also lost to GGG. Just they pretended he didn`t because they wanted to keep a myth "only Mayweather was good enough to beat Canelo" alive for some reason.

He's not got much left to prove... he's already an ATG.

Losing, by trying to do something amazing, isn't 'on' anyone. It's what sportsmen are supposed to do - challenge yourself to be as great as you possibly can.

When Canelo retires, he won't wonder how far he could have gone. He's actually going to find out.

He had 40+ fights vs. a bad hand old fmw. That's like Wilder needing a baby battle after 33 fights to fight Vlad. AJ was too green for Vlad with only 18 fights

Andrade is belt more like FMW and Lara vs Plant similar to BJS, two different kinds of slick.

Not only size but Bivol footwork and distance management and 1-2 are superior to Lara's because he can add a 3rd, 4th and even 5th punch to his. I probably give Lara better legs.

They thought Bivol was Plant 2.0.

And the obvious keep it in the "if" zone like Lara and GGG I and Canelo get the cards. It was a FMW level blow so they could do was a draw if even that

He got worn down. If they had put him in with Beterbiev would he have got stopped?

It wasn’t the matchmaking, it was the gameplay and lack of strength and conditioning.

****** to think that. canelo has lost other fights as well... remember, all they are thinking is "Can Canelo win 3 rounds against this guy?" .. that is enough for them to win the fight.

                how can this be negative?

it brings intriguing matchups to boxing..

not every fight should be safe

and ****ckc these weight classes--they are so strict and dont even matchup with athletes that well

I have only watched the highlights of the fight. Unlike the Mayweather fight, I think Alvarez actually emptied his tank completely in this fight.

If there is a rematch, I am not sure what else he can do. As his ability in my opinion, does not enable him to adapt that much.

If there is a rematch, the only thing Alvarez can do is fight harder at a higher intensity.

Maybe Alvarez should of stayed at 168 pounds, that is probably his peak weight.

I have stated in the past that, there is no way Alvarez would of been yo yoing up and down in weight in the late 90's or 2000's. He would of been battered by somebody at light heavyweight, and things would be terrifying enough for him in the middle-weight divisions. Alvarez has exploited the lack of skill in the Middle-Weight to Light Heavyweight divisions in this era for sometime now, but last night? He ran into a fighter who was not quite as weak as his recent opponents etc.

Alvarez lost the fight, but not due to lack of effort or under performance. So I don't think he can be down on himself that much.

This was horrible matchmaking by Eddie Hearn who pushed for this fight Bivol at 175 for no other reason then he had no fighters at 168. There is no other promoter that makes the cash cow king go up in weight when you have so many bigger names and bigger fights that can be made at 168. They foolishly made canelo give up physical advantages and hurt Canelo's brand and wasted more money for DAZN who have been trying forever to recoup money lost on GGG and Canelo fights other guys but not each other. And Canelo and Reynoso heads were too big and allowed it a fight nobody asked for that Hearn jamned down their throats.
