What does Mayweather have to do with last nights fight? And so we are clear, floyd started at jr lightweight and won titles all the way to light middleweight. Canelo won his first title at light middleweight and won a title at light heavyweight. Both fighters jumped roughly 20-21 lbs for titles. How is what Canelo did any different than what Mayweather did? Mayweather for most of his career fought men who were naturally bigger than him including Canelo himself. And let’s be clear about something as well…when Mayweather had so called questionable wins (usually from the people who payed to see him lose) he fought those men again and dominated them. Castillio and Mariana come to mind. He didn’t fight Lara, get whipped, and say “I don’t like the style.”

Calm down your species fool. Mayweather’s name has come up in this thread plenty of times. Mayweather fought naturally bigger men? If you count bigger men weight drained by a catch weight or past their prime as a worthy opponent, then you are a fool. Mayweather fought Canelo at a catch weight of 152 lbs to make sure he weight drained him. Mayweather pulled a coward move against the older, smaller, Marquez who moved up 2 weight classes to fight Mayweather. Mayweather didn’t even attempt to make weight for the contracted 144lbs like Canelo did against Mayweather. Mayweather the coward, came in at 146lbs and chose to pay the fine for the 2 pounds he was overweight. He knew that if he made the 144lbs it would’ve had a detrimental effect on him like it did Canelo when they fought. Mayweather was scared to fight an older, smaller, man and made sure to have another advantage against Marquez. That is a punk ***** move. Canelo at least was professional and made 152lbs even though it had an obvious detrimental effect on his performance due to the weight drain. Canelo should have had no honor and did the same as Mayweather did against Marquez and came in at the real weight limit of 154lbs. Mayweather still couldn’t knockout the older, smaller, Marquez even with all of the unfair advantages. I stand by my previous comment of Bivol never being a cherry pick. He is an undefeated champion at a higher weight class.

Canelo needs to get back to what made him great- head movement, slipping punches, using reflexes to get inside and attack the body.

Hes grown too fond if his chin and his power, and just sits there taking punches looking for a knockout.

It took him until rd 9 to get back to it last nite, and by then it was too late.

And another thing, Mayweather rematched all of his opponents that he was given gifted decisions against because only the fans thought he lost? All three commentators and unofficial Judge Harold Lederman had Castillo beating Mayweather in their first fight. Mayweather Sr. said that a past his prime, coked out, Oscar De La Hoya beat his son. Past his prime, coked out Oscar gave Mayweather a close fight and either won or at the least earned a draw against Mayweather. De La Hoya exacted the contracted rematch clause. What did Floyd the coward do? He fake retired because he was scared to rematch a questionable decision against an older, past his prime, De La Hoya.This is the only time he moved up to fight at 154lbs without a catch weight. If you want to count his fight against a past his prime Cotto a bigger man at 154lbs then you and your species are biased, ignorant fools. Cotto had already had taken beatings from Margarito and Pacquiao.

My big takeaway last night was that Canelo either didn’t have a plan b or simply didn’t implement it.

I saw a fighter that believed his own hype in the ring. Wanted to be the better boxer. Wanted to be the one landing the cleaner combinations. Didn’t wanna accept that this was not going to be that kinda fight. By the 9th round it was clear Canelo was just going to have to get inside and make it nasty, and I just didn’t see that.

Of course, credit to Bivol for discouraging Canelo from even trying with his excellent performance as well.

I had a feeling that Canelo will lose this fight. Bivol is a good boxer and not a big puncher. He's also not his prime like Kovalev. Canelo and his team will have to make big adjustment for the rematch and have a B and C plan. Triple G's biggest pay just flew away

Great performance from Bivol. I had a feeling he would get the better of Canelo but I didn't think he'd get the benefit from the judges. Very happy for him.

Bivol was way too much, Canelo had no answer. Not going to knock Canelo though, he challenged himself by going to 175 and facing an excellent fighter in Bivol.

All the Floyd fan girls are out in full force, blindly overlooking that Canelo attempted to do something he never dared to do, which is, fight a bigger, elite, skilled fighter in their prime at their optimum weight. The headline to this forum is that Bivol shocked the boxing world? I would think Canelo winning would be a shock, due to the fact that he was at every disadvantage, since the opponent he was fighting, is the bigger, skillful, and an elite undefeated champion in his prime. Let’s not forget, no catch weight to weight drain the bigger opponent either. Bivol’s only disadvantage was just that he is relatively unknown. Floyd never attempted this type of challenge. Floyd’s excuses were always that he would not take on such challenges because the opponents were unknown, and were not PPV draws. Antonio Margarito and Paul Williams come to mind as some fighters that Floyd ducked by using this excuse or he would fake retire to duck. Hell, Erislandy Lara probably could’ve beat Floyd but of course, Floyd never would’ve had the balls to move up to face him. Please save the illegal wrap comments, because this was not even an assumption at the time.

Respect to Canelo for the challenge he took, as you said all the advantages were with Bivol aside from the judges, but he's no Manny Pacquiao, the only fighter to be able to fight 2 weight classes outside his optimum and DOMINATE bigger elite prime fighters like Cotto, Mosley, etc.

Floyd never could do this, he either cherried or never took the fights against the bigger prime guys.

This is a sweet day!! I know it comes across as hate but it serves for all the injustices and cheating that has happened in boxing recently. Canelo was long overdue this humbling. Its been extremely nauseating the way himself and the media portray him to be some sort of invincible guy who everyone should be grateful to secure a fight against. He is just a boxer like all the others and was thoroughly dominated on his home turf with no answers to what Bivol was bringing him (even though the judges tried their best to rob Bivol).

Have to say It was an amazing feeling to see Canelo get backed up and hurt against the ropes with that silly confused look on his face haha.
