let’s look at the reality, he did stop Saunders but it was more of a freak injury that may not happen 98 times out of 100, at no point did he ever look like he could even drop him. He hit Callum Smith at will, couldn’t drop him or hurt him really. Jacobs has been dropped before and stopped but Canelo couldn’t hurt him. The list goes on. Plant was worn down more than anything.

I’d say it’s highly unlikely Canelo wins this fight just with a solid shot. It’s going to be a chess match.

Bivol has a very good style to face Canelo. High work rate, gets in and out fast, decent enough power when he wants etc. Canelo is going to have to rely on more than single big shots here, if he does, he’s going to get badly outworked. There’s very little chance of Bivol losing with a single shot.
    Well... all excellent points.

However, "getting hit solid" doesn't necessarily translate with "single shot knockout". I myself think that Bivol is a severe test for Canelo, and would not be surprised at all if he outboxed him. But the way Canelo has of applying constant pressure and THEN starting to "hit solid" could spell disaster for Bivol if he's not 100% and on full alert for the whole duration of the fight.

Essentially, I think that Bivol has slowed down a bit in his last fights. Perhaps this one will bring back the best in him, I surely hope so for the sake of a great fight.

Mosley also said Pac and Floyd had similar power in one interview but then later said Pac buzzed him so hard that he couldn’t remember half the fight. So I’m not sure how consistent he is. But he’s the one that was in there.

Still, I’ve always maintained Canelo is more of a sharp puncher than a big puncher. Obviously he can stop fighters but unless they’re chinny like Khan or Kirkland, he’s not the type to hit fighters with big shots and keep them on the floor. But to be fair, not many fighters are.

          Called it

Canelo left relying on single shots because of Bivol’s in and out movement , that’s a guaranteed way to lose v Bivol
