Eddy should adopt Coner, since he feels like he has to coddle him.

It has nothing to do with popularity. Nobody in the UK cared about van Heerden. He says most fans wouldn't buy tickets for a Stanionis fight because they know Spence/Crawford are the real champ. But that's BS. With AJ he put him in with Martin for the paper world title because he knows casual fans DO buy into that stuff. The football fan type who support AJ didn't say 'but Martin only got the title when his opponent injured his leg, it was a vacant title, and he has 0 defences to his name and it's clear he's not the number 1 guy', they just saw AJ was fighting for a 'world title' and that was enough. It would be the same here as Benn's fans are the exact same type. The real difference is that Hearn knew AJ would win his paper title fight but he doesn't have the same confidence in Benn beating Stanionis.
They are picking guys who are inactive, past-prime, and don't hit hard, so Benn can just jump on them without worrying about return fire and knowing these old guys can't match his pace. He is just learning bad habits, that style would not work vs the elite, or against guys in their prime or with power. Trying to fight Khan is the exact same thing. I don't even dislike Benn, it's just the way they're handling his career is such obvious smoke and mirrors. If a promoter believes their prospect can be a future number 1 in the division, they give them some challenging fights as a good learning experience.Last edited by Clegg; 04-18-2022, 08:46 AM.Comment

Essowman, McKinson Josh Kelly all decent match-ups. All will give Benn a test.
They just want him flattening feather-fisted has-beens until they can get a soft route to a belt. Same as Warren did with Yarde who had very similar no-contests until he somehow got a title shot he was totally out of his depth for.Comment

Conor is getting older, i think it's time for some bigger challenges. I'd like to see him ditch Eddie and England. Come to the USA and prove himself that much more. He could start with Jaron Ennis or Virgil Ortiz.Comment

Stanionis would likely beat Benn plain and simple. Dont get me wrong Benn fighting Stanionis at the O2 likely ends in a early stoppage to get Benn the W but if the ref stayed out of the fight Benn eventually gets broken down and truly stopped. That kid is a wrecking ball!Comment
