Hearn as usual wants it both ways , cash in on the name before it goes south , fill out arenas before we really know if he’s worth it .As for Khan it’s even dangerous for him to be Seated in the front row

I dont actually like this, its a pure business move and Benn must be losing confidence by not fighting the best guys. Avanesyan would absolutely maul him and Stanionis would break Conor Benn down. Stylistically those are the worst fights for Conor Benn. Conor Benn relies on his opponent being gun shy or not really wanting to be there but if he goes up against someone that has power and that wants to be there then he is in trouble.
I would even say that Danny Garcia at this moment would be too much for him, as much as Danny is gun shy, he is a good boxer and has power. Hell if Adrien broner has a good day then i think he can win against conor.

Avaneseyan is with Queensbury. That's why the fight will never happen. Not even worth suggesting it.

Anyway, I actually think Benn is being brought up really well. He's only had 21 fights and 2 years ago I genuinely thought he was a domestic level at best.

Is he ready for the top guys? No.
Will he ever be? Well he's much better than I thought. His improvement is intriguing for sure.

He's probably a year or two away from top guys imo.

He says most fans wouldn't buy tickets for a Stanionis fight because they know Spence/Crawford are the real champ. But that's BS. With AJ he put him in with Martin for the paper world title because he knows casual fans DO buy into that stuff. The football fan type who support AJ didn't say 'but Martin only got the title when his opponent injured his leg, it was a vacant title, and he has 0 defences to his name and it's clear he's not the number 1 guy', they just saw AJ was fighting for a 'world title' and that was enough. It would be the same here as Benn's fans are the exact same type. The real difference is that Hearn knew AJ would win his paper title fight but he doesn't have the same confidence in Benn beating Stanionis.

They are picking guys who are inactive, past-prime, and don't hit hard, so Benn can just jump on them without worrying about return fire and knowing these old guys can't match his pace. He is just learning bad habits, that style would not work vs the elite, or against guys in their prime or with power. Trying to fight Khan is the exact same thing. I don't even dislike Benn, it's just the way they're handling his career is such obvious smoke and mirrors. If a promoter believes their prospect can be a future number 1 in the division, they give them some challenging fights as a good learning experience.
I agree, they are kinda letting him down because he could be great if he changed his style but he hasnt had to yet. It depends on what he wants, if its just the money then fair enough but be honest about it. If its being the best then he needs to start fighting people that can test him before he has to fight a killer otherwise he will get brutally koed and will never recover.

How about against someone like Mean Machine? While he has good power, he doesn't have a great chin and got beat up pretty badly by Ortiz. Still provides some sort of threat to Benn so it would be interesting to watch.

Maybe Dulorme? He got washed by Ennis, but aside from that he usually puts on a good effort.

Hearn is right whether you agree or not as a fan. As a promoter, he is right. It’s brutal honesty. Why not pursue Mikey Garcia over Aveneysian and Stanionis (spelling on both*)?

Just common sense to put Benn in there with names to raise his profile.

I understand from a promoter's point of view, to match Benn carefully and build up the potential huge paydays.

But from a fan's viewpoint, I don't want to see him fight guys with a high profile but easy opponents like Broner and Mikey Garcia. They're not a factor at welterweight.
