Well, Hearn answered that question honestly, at least he didn’t pull a Keith Thurman and claim he never heard of the guy.

Promoters know more about their fighters than the rest of us, because they’re constantly hearing reports about sparring, and I’m sure Benn has been test sparred against top 5 guys to see where he’s at. I wonder how that went and whether or not it’s influencing some of Hearn’s comments.

Also, I will say this: Avanesyan and Staniosis are good fighters but they aren’t beasts like Vergil Ortiz Jr or Boots who’ve beaten the tar out of everyone put in front of them. Avanesyan has lost a few times, Staniosis has been in tough fights. These are guys who a 25 year old, with 20 plus fights, should be comfortable stepping up against if there are serious aspirations about building a legitimate legacy.

      Absurd.

      They're Top 10 ranked Welterweights.

So fight them!! It's that simple.

How hard is that? To have heard of the guy that would KTFO your fighter any day of the week? How is Hearn not going to know that name? In an ideal world Conor Benn would fight for the British title v Ekow Essuman. Sadly, I know that will never happen. Benn & Hearn think he is in a loftier metier now. OK then, fight Avanasesyan. There is no excuse, there can be no excuse for this one, fight Avanaseyan! I don't like criticising fighters. They are mostly hard, brave, proud men & I know all the promotional & business shenanigans stop the fights being made BUT this is going beyond the joke. If you duck Essuman & you duck Avanesayan Conor, then whatever you win, know you won nothing, except the prize for 'most cleverly promoted', & I'd like to hope no fighter wants that trophy.

I’m just saying I appreciate his candor. Don’t get me wrong, I’d much rather see Benn just take one of those fights.

I half wonder if Thurman-Benn can be made. Thurman is getting older and has a style where he’s there to be hit, which could work well for Benn who is, if nothing else, a specimen. Thurman is the king of ducking, but he might see Benn as being beatable, and he might want to stay away from Spence.

Yes, that's sort of my point. I just cantt see Hearn offering them more than they can get in the states.

Stanionis (in a title fight against Butaev) was moved to the fxcking preshow of the PPV, which shows how much he's valued imho. Stanionis should be in line to face Spence/Crawford/Thurman, but he'll probably be ignored because what Hearn is saying has some validity. Avanesyan has been feasting on cannon fodder since he signed with Queensbury. Ava's manager said that they went to Queensbury because Warren would get them a title shot....well WHEN? Ava left Matchroom and yet the discussion is still Benn/Avanesyan when we know the match-up is less likely to happen now than before.

The issue with Hearn's logic: Mikey is a bigger name, but he's gonna cost a pretty penny and he isn't as valuable a name as he once was. Is Mikey worth the money you'll throw at him to get in the ring with Benn? Will Mikey fold if Benn starts beating his ass? They are treading dangerous territory with Benn because he's yet to have a world-level caliber opponent that has tested his mettle, and blasting out opposition isn't teaching him anything. Stanionis just had his trial by fire against Butaev. Benn needs Avanesyan more than Hearn realizes because Ava is likely to test him in certain ways that nobody else has. Matchroom and Queensbury need to make this match-up....and Buatsi/Yarde too.
