Comments Thread For: Devin Haney: Big Fights Can Be Made If You Truly Want Them

There is only "one street" in Devin Haney's mind. In a recent interview, the WBC lightweight titleholder tried to refute the notion that fighters who belong to different promotional en****** are more or less consigned to operating within their respective spheres, thus preventing the most competitive matches in the sport from being made.

Australia is a sweet place, I mean it is a huge continent but loads of it are cool. I can recommend it highly. You can't climb Uhuru any more but there is loads of chilled stuff to do in Australia. The Great Barrier Reef & stuff & if you like cricket...

I despise Haney because he has that phony belt and tries to act like it's a legit belt. However, I do respect him for making this fight happen. Most guys today are happy to duck top fights and make easy money fighting routine opponents. Respect to Haney and Kambosos.

Sounds like you are offering to take one up the bum.

Made me chuckle when the writer said:

"Haney was previously signed to a long term contract with Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, who has an exclusive content deal with DAZN, but he decided to become a free agent last summer."

It's general knowledge Haney wanted to stick with Eddie Hearn, but there's no new contract for him to sign. So there's no decision to be made. How can you decide for a non-existent offer? So silly.

He took the Kambosos fight because there's nothing else for him. He could be looking for a year-long layoff.

Haney didn't have really no where else to go and was lucky that Loma didn't taketh fight. Now the mess of who is the undisputed 135 pounder can be solved if a winner emerges. At least when the opportunity was offered Haney took it and didn't price himself out like many do now.

Too many fighters hide behind negotiations after they continually name drop other guys.

Bob Arum said that Devin Haney signed with the wrong promoter.

And sure enough Haney could never get the big fight until Arum had a piece of his action.

I won't follow this soft saga. It's a waste of time. It'd be good if this fight never even happens.

I see Kambosos as a bum and Haney as an ordinary fighter. They should be contenders. Kambosos wouldn't make my top 10 current best lightweights and Haney could be my number 6, if I had a list. What's the intrigue? Screw these fake belts.

Neither Haney nor this bum represent the elite of boxing, unless you are a newbie, or a dummy.

                    Boxing has become too soft.
