Back to Canelo vs Bivol. I just don't think Bivol is on Canelo's level. Sure he has a belt, is undefeated, the competition isn't all that great at LHW. But he just hasn't been in enough fights for me to think he really poses a threat to Alvarez. Not enough meaningful fights. And if I can backtrack a bit......Canelo's resume is good, he has been in with some great fighters, seen lots of styles, been tested in the ring. Bivol not so much. What does he really bring to the table that Canelo should be worried? He's a little taller with a longer reach. He's not that fast with his hands, he does have good movement. But again, Alvarez has been in the ring with GGG twice, Triple GGG has or had more than Bivol to me. As did Moseley and Cotto. Just my opinion. Alvarez has been in the ring with movers, Floyd and Lara, both of whom are or were, levels above Bivol. I could be wrong, though. Bivol could have the fight of his life versus Canelo. I doubt it however, Canelo is too active and at the top of his game at the moment.Last edited by runtdawg; 04-02-2022, 02:15 PM.

It's crazy that not one expert is giving Bivol a remote chance and Beterbiev is getting slower.
Charlo had a bad performance against Montei so that invalidates what he did to Derv? Nelo had a horrible performance against Lara. 168 was an ass division the only contender there likes blow and Twinkies. Plants best win was against a guy that lost to Korbov, BJS is a steroid cheat that ran to 168 for a title against who? Callum Smith left hooking tomato cans.batista84 likes this.

I don't buy it. And I don't think you do either. Benavidez screwed himself over twice with bad decisions and now Canelo may have moved on to 175 for good. If he moves back down to 168 it's definitely the fight to make. If not it's completely on Benavidez for lacking the discipline and maturity to keep his leverage for a Canelo fight.
As far as benavidez lack of discipline, please remember that canelo also failed a vada test just like Benavidez. Canelo also missed weight but had the pull to have the contracted weight changed 1 day before the fight. So spare me the righteousness of what Benavidez should’ve done to be on Canelo’s radar. It’s hypocritical.

It's easy money for Canelo - a whole bunch of easy money.Last edited by takenotes; 04-02-2022, 04:54 PM.

Yet, again, Canelo's Stans are claiming Bivol is in his prime. Really, after 19 fights, he's ready and on Canelo's level? Canelo is actually a good fighter, if not great, but his opponents as of late have been soft. Most of them, Euro bums.- Bivol is the defending champion at a division where Canelo didn't look very good against Old Kovalev
- Bivol is a master at what Kovalev was doing to Canelo (Jab and step back)
- Bivol is the same age of Canelo
- He beat Barrera in better fashion than Ward
- He beat Joe Smith Jr in better fashion than anyone has ever done it
- He toyed with Pascal better than Hopkins
- He is the #2 jabber from 160-175 according to compubox (The punch gives most problems to Canelo)
- He is the #1 defense from 160-175
- No catchweight
- On his prime
- 286 Wins - 15 Losses in Amateurs

Who's to say he's not better than Beterbiev, I don't know. Bivol is better than Plant, Smith and Saunders by a fair distance. This is a real fight folks.
Maybe a bit of a chess match, not a brawl, but it's intriguing. The Casual likes this.
