The Charlo wins are impressive, yes. I think most people forgot about those wins due to his last performance being garbage. Benavidez though has nothing on his resume. J’leon is garbage and so is Direll. I think Benavidez is a good fighter. But he has yet to beat anyone of note.

Agreed. Benavidez does need a bigger name on his resume. Hopefully he gets past Lemieux and hIm and Plant or Andrade can start talks.

Back to Canelo vs Bivol. I just don't think Bivol is on Canelo's level. Sure he has a belt, is undefeated, the competition isn't all that great at LHW. But he just hasn't been in enough fights for me to think he really poses a threat to Alvarez. Not enough meaningful fights. And if I can backtrack a bit......Canelo's resume is good, he has been in with some great fighters, seen lots of styles, been tested in the ring. Bivol not so much. What does he really bring to the table that Canelo should be worried? He's a little taller with a longer reach. He's not that fast with his hands, he does have good movement. But again, Alvarez has been in the ring with GGG twice, Triple GGG has or had more than Bivol to me. As did Moseley and Cotto. Just my opinion. Alvarez has been in the ring with movers, Floyd and Lara, both of whom are or were, levels above Bivol. I could be wrong, though. Bivol could have the fight of his life versus Canelo. I doubt it however, Canelo is too active and at the top of his game at the moment.Last edited by runtdawg; 04-02-2022, 02:15 PM.Comment

The color of their is irrelevant to me. I personally believe Bivol beats Charlo and Andrade and dont give a f u c k what color their skin is he in my opinion is just a better fighter. I think he beats GGG as well and its damn sure not because he is from Kazakhstan it's because he is old and inactive. Get over yourself and stay off my posts with that racial ignorance
So it's a definite he beats the two black fighters huh?
It's crazy that not one expert is giving Bivol a remote chance and Beterbiev is getting slower.
Charlo had a bad performance against Montei so that invalidates what he did to Derv? Nelo had a horrible performance against Lara. 168 was an ass division the only contender there likes blow and Twinkies. Plants best win was against a guy that lost to Korbov, BJS is a steroid cheat that ran to 168 for a title against who? Callum Smith left hooking tomato cans.Comment

you're still holding GGG high up? I think he is done at this point - he should beat Murata still but i won't be shocked if he loses - he is 40 years old, inactive, high mileage and not using peds as far as we know - this is a recipe for performance falling through the floorComment

I’m not making any implication. I’m stating exactly what happened. Canelo didn’t express any desire to unify at 168 until after benavidez got stripped. You heard 0 from him about wanting the wbc title at 168 but he suddenly petitioned for it 3 days after Benavidez got stripped. You can assume that’s a coincidence if you want but I’m not that gullible. His team wasn’t fond of that fight and the nonsense excuse Reynoso made recently about why Benavidez isn’t on their radar was pure bullshet and an obvious attempt to steer Canelo away from him.
What is the implication here? That Canelo would not have moved to 168 of Benavidez didn't lose his title (twice)? He would have just stayed at 160 or jumped right to 175? He had no problem facing Kovalev, Smith, Plant, Saunders, or now Bivol (and potentially Beterbiev) but for some reason he is terrified for the first time in his career of Benavidez?
I don't buy it. And I don't think you do either. Benavidez screwed himself over twice with bad decisions and now Canelo may have moved on to 175 for good. If he moves back down to 168 it's definitely the fight to make. If not it's completely on Benavidez for lacking the discipline and maturity to keep his leverage for a Canelo fight.
As far as benavidez lack of discipline, please remember that canelo also failed a vada test just like Benavidez. Canelo also missed weight but had the pull to have the contracted weight changed 1 day before the fight. So spare me the righteousness of what Benavidez should’ve done to be on Canelo’s radar. It’s hypocritical.

That's the rub. There is no way bivol is going to KO clenelo. So it will surely go to the judges. And he will never win on points. It is literally money in the bank. Notice how he stayed away from beterbiev. The only thing Bivol offers is another win to put on Canelo's resume. I'm disappointed that Canelo signed to face this handpicked opponent. He should have fought either GGG next or some other opponent who's name has constantly been linked to his. But I get it. It's easy money for Canelo - a whole bunch of easy money.Last edited by takenotes; 04-02-2022, 04:54 PM.Comment

And most BOXING EXPERTS, not FANATICS, give Bivol zero chance of beating Canelo. But his fanatics are steady trying to build Bivol up as this serious challenge to Alvarez. His best win is over an average at best, Joe Smith Jr. Oh, I know, Bivol has power and can move. Whatever, he has average hand speed, very little professional experience, 19 fights. Yet, again, Canelo's Stans are claiming Bivol is in his prime. Really, after 19 fights, he's ready and on Canelo's level? Canelo is actually a good fighter, if not great, but his opponents as of late have been soft. Most of them, Euro bums.- Bivol is the defending champion at a division where Canelo didn't look very good against Old Kovalev
- Bivol is a master at what Kovalev was doing to Canelo (Jab and step back)
- Bivol is the same age of Canelo
- He beat Barrera in better fashion than Ward
- He beat Joe Smith Jr in better fashion than anyone has ever done it
- He toyed with Pascal better than Hopkins
- He is the #2 jabber from 160-175 according to compubox (The punch gives most problems to Canelo)
- He is the #1 defense from 160-175
- No catchweight
- On his prime
- 286 Wins - 15 Losses in Amateurs

You sir , iknow your boxing.I can't criticise Canelo for this fight, because Bivol is a difficult opponent.
Who's to say he's not better than Beterbiev, I don't know. Bivol is better than Plant, Smith and Saunders by a fair distance. This is a real fight folks.
Maybe a bit of a chess match, not a brawl, but it's intriguing.Comment

I'd put Charlo in there, along with Andrade. Just because you don't like how they fight, doesn't mean they don't pose a threat to Alvarez. And I know they haven't looked all that great in some of their fights, but it happens to almost every fighter. Canelo didn't look great against Lara.
