The subscription only model failed because Americans are too ****** to realise value for money.

300k people still buy crap Thurman/Tank/Ortiz fights at $80 rather than making a stand and supporting DAZN only at $10-$20 a month.

Too many people don't realise that if they boycotted the ripoff PPVs eventually boxing would all come to DAZN.

It doesn't matter. DAZN can now compete with the PPV market and will dominate the market in 4 years time still.

This is getting weird. Getting Canelos PPVs were essentially the entire reason to buy a DAZN sub. How many subs do they have these days?

We'll see. It's clear they're not yet getting the subscriber numbers to make the big fights without PPV. But they have seemed able to make some good fights without making them PPV as others have.

For them to succeed, boxing needs to grow. So I'll support them.

PPV or not, the era of people having subscription boxes plugged into their tv is completely over.

Alot of posters making great points in this thread.

I'll just add that I had a feeling DAZN wasn't gonna be as financially successful as they predicted when they started waaay overpaying fighters ( plus the whole being on an app where potential new young fans won't have access if they weren't prior introduced to the sport ).

          I won't dispute Canelos guarantee.
But paying guys like Farmer and Andrade millions per fight was a huge red flag.
Then that huge guarantee they gave GGG based on hopes he would fight Canelo a third time was bad.
Aside from the Derevechenko fight GGG has not given DAZN or us fans our money worth.
But I can't blame him for being a shrewd business man.

Nah, boxing is just a niche sport. You can't have a successful app consisting of only boxing. Only so much us hardcore fans can do.
