Josh Taylor Should Not be Judged Just Off His Performance From Yesterday But.........

I'm not really sure I see him beating or coming close to beating the likes of Crawford, Spence, Ennis, Ortiz at WW. Taylor has had a very good run at 140 and yesterday was a poor performance but he's done enough work to get a pass. I think he was probably a bit drained and just didn't have the best of camps that led to that performance....But how do you guys see him faring at WW? Taylor was a HUGE 140 pounder and used that to his advantage but he's not going to be able to bully the names I listed. Those guys are also naturally big guys themselves. I just don't think Taylor's defense is good enough to win decisions against fighters who are equally as skilled and just as big as him. Taylor also does not jab nearly enough so that right there is a big issue since he won't just be able to physically impose his will on the inside.

He's a top 10 P4P fighter but top 5? I don't think so and at WW he may not even be top 5. What do you guys think?

He's not and never has been top 20 P4P, never mind top 5. Top 40, maybe. People seem to forget, he lost a good 5 rounds vs Baranchuk, who is quite useless, and despite what the scorecards were, for 9-10 rounds vs Postol, before the knockdown and late improvement, there was not a blade of grass in it, and Postol is just a half decent contender, Crawford made him look like a guy from the crowd.

Prograis was a good win, razor close, but Prograis, has a very poor resume, so hard to say how good he is, and Ramirez, who I had Taylor beating 116-110, imo, lost to Postol, so hardly the world beating resume people have made it out to be. Taylor won at most 4 rounds yesterday against a little known, and little fancied Englishman, the same Englishman who barely beat Tyrone Nurse, Ohara Davies, and Tyrone McKenna, all in recent years, these aren't results from Catterall's early career, these are peak Catterall results.

All the talk of Taylor being Britain's number 1 over Fury were laughable. A finished Kell Brook would send Taylor into retirement, never mind someone like Crawford. The Taylor hype is over. Mark the words of the Great Nash. Nash out.

I’m hoping his performance put blood in the water and attracts Tank to finally get his poozie out of his ass and fight him.

Taylor will be able to push Tank around on the inside so he should be good in that fight. Won't be easy and he may even get dropped but I like Taylor in that fight.

You are not wrong that Taylor loses a lot of rounds in almost every fight. You can argue Prograis won 5-7 rounds, Ramire won 5-6 rounds, Postol won 5-6 rounds and then Catterall won 6-8 rounds. Doesn't mean he's not a very good fighter because he is but man those top guys at WW may prove to be extremely difficult for him.

What do you mean finally? The only talk of a Tank/Taylor matchup has been in the last week or so.

It's been happening everywhere lately to be fair lol.

Since the pandemic, upsets are happening at higher rates. Good for boxing fans if we have more days like yesterday!

I still don't see why we shouldn't judge him......after all this sport is basically a "what have you done for me lately" sport. So I will judge him. He got a horrible gift decision.

I mean you can acknowledge it was a terrible decision while also acknowledging he's done some really good things at 140.
