Shakur Is A Better Boxer, But Is Valdez A Better Fighter?

    https://twitter.com/MonteroOnBoxing/...FAHGrc4cQVZ3aA

I just saw this, and it reminded me of how much willpower Valdez has, and what a true warrior he is to fight through what he did. Is he being made the underdog too early in his fight with Stevenson? I can see Shakur outboxing Valdez but, at the same time, I can see Valdez overwhelming Shakur and hurting him at some point.

Also, I have word that the fight was signed today.

(I can't post Twitter anymore. Can anyone else?)

    Good Luck to Oscar Valdez...

but Shakur gives him a One Sided Boring Boxing Lesson in which he will struggle to land big on Shakur all night and ultimately lose by WIDE UD but of course he has a puncher's chance but Shakur aint no Berchelt

Gonna be hard for pedez to land on runnerson. He better hope it's a puncher size ring instead of the original size.

Valdez is a warrior no doubt but so are most boxers. Outside of that performance against what very well could've been a weight drained Berchelt,he's really struggled against inferior competition, none more so than his last against Robson.

Stevenson is a far more skilled boxer but is as featherfisted as they come. If that chick in the parking garage was a able to eat multiple clean shots from him then I'm sure Oscar can eat a few while attempting to get in range to land his left hook. Unlikely but you never know

I definitely favor Shakur here, but I'm not all that impressed with is win over Herring for a couple reasons. One reason is that Herring looked like ****. I probably shouted at the screen a hundred times for him to stop walking into Shakur's left. It was mind boggling. His entire strategy was all wrong. He wouldn't even listen to his corner until halfway through the fight.

Which leads me to my second point, and that is that Herring lost the mental battle. He was beat before he even entered the ring. You could see it in his body language and eyes. And it goes to the fact that both guys trained at the same gym, and you know how it is when guys roam in a pack; it's just like a pack of wolves; there's a hierarchy. And Herring new that Shakur is a special talent, could see him train and knew he was better than him. What that means is that it's very likely Herring was low man on the totem pole. He carried that attitude into the ring, and Shakur carried his attitude of supremacy into the ring. That is what really made the fight go the way it did.

But Valdez is a different animal. Also, Reynoso has actually stated he likes this fight. That he wants this fight. That dynamic is gone, and now we have what I consider a "real fight" between two elite boxers. Both amateur pedigrees. One with the speed and technique and the other with the grit and power. I'm viewing this as a 50/50 fight right now, in all honesty. I think this is a hard fight for Shakur.

Honestly the only reason pedez and his camp took the fight was cause they had to. They not only got busted for ped's but he also got a gift against concencio. You know how much flack they would of got if they had fought a bum or tune up or whatever? It's just reynoso saving face.

The positive thing is that Stevenson doesn't have a big punch so pedez face won't look as bad as it did against concencio. Not to mention he won't look all bruised up when he says "Stevenson ran. He just ran the whole fight" like he did with concencio despite looking beat up.

The logic behind threads like this make my head spin.

So because Valdez has been in some nasty wars against opposition he should have dominated he is supposed to be praised as a better “fighter”?

Shakur is one of those fighters that may never be in a “war”, or dog fight, he is a generational talent IMO.

Valdez has looked shakey in many fights against lesser guys for yeeeeeaaaars, and people like to rewrite history as if the majority didn’t think he’a be flatlined by Berchelt. I can’t even remember a single round in which Shakur hasn’t been dominant, whether he was in cruise control or whatever.

How anyone thinks Shakur doesn’t absolutely take him to school is beyond me…

Yet hey…I’m ready to hear the excuses.

That's why they fight the fights. On paper Shakur wins easily

                    Youre right.

Valdez is a fighter, lots of will power, he’s going in to fight.

Shakur is going to play tag, hide behind the jab, run around, angles. Based on this he’ll probably win.

Hate seeing shiiit styles like this.

For example; Joshua vs Ruiz rematch. Joshua ran around, played tag and jabbed all night. Weak ass shiiit. This will be the Shakur game plan
