Dana straight robbing these people. UFC 270 saw around 1.6 million ppv buys. At $75 a pop that's $120 million in ppv alone. Not to mention sponsorship deals, tickets and other avenues that make them money. But lets ignore those for a moment because I don't have the numbers. Ngannou was paid a guaranteed purse of $700k. THAT'S A HALF OF A PERCENT of the earning from the PPV alone!!!! Their champion was just paid 0.5% of the ppv earnings. Dana is a bigger crook than Bob!
Incorrect. UFC did 1 million +PPV buys in every PPV in 2021 with the exception of one or two. That’s the difference between MMA and boxing. UFC doesn’t need the once every five years mega fight to post one million + PPV buys like boxing. UFC literally has been doing one million+ ppv buys every event for years. Face it; it’s a better product, their best always fight their best and their production is supreme.
Lol. Tyson Fury is a pimp.
To make the big, big money fighting, you gotta do it like the Mesopotamians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, English and Americans honored it. Stand up and don't kick. Hands for dexterity, legs for position, balance, leverage and mobility - Like humans. You gotta Fight like a man. That's not me; that's just the economics. I love all the combat sports.
But if you kick, knee, elbow, sweep, shoot, choke or grapple, expect a massive paycut. For fans of "Realistic fighting", the news gets worse. If you bite, gouge, twist to maim or use weapons; you just go to jail and pay big fines and legal fees. That's life.
The UFC business model was lifted from Pro Wrestling, which in turn had modeled it after the 19th century circus. A traveling troupe with a rotating cast. The brand is what's marketed, the perfomers are just replaceable employees. They were able to make something of themselves by doing this in the 1990's, 2000's and 10's, the UFC. Advertise themselves when the press ignored and lambasted them, until the public caught on, demanded more and the press had to comply, eventually partnering with the resulting corporate monopoly. Brilliant. But the fighter, from whom all that reinvested revenue was fleeced?....
You need 5 specific skills to make it to the top fighting in Mixed Martials Arts. 1. Decent Western Boxing. 2. Strong submission Grappling. 3. Competent Freestyle Wrestling. 4. Well developed Muay Thai/Kickboxing. 5. Very low Self esteem and a day job.
600k is why ufc fighters cry underpaid unleess mcgregar. You do better #s than boxing yet for 10% the pay. Cant blame ngannou for least wanting the wilder fight thatd be 10m each and an interesting who lands first going down fight. Fury is smart he knows from the mayweather to paul fights how dumb fans are. Fury has 2 fights left aj usyk winner n ngannou he knows it be biggest payday less aj wins belt n fight is in london also the easiest for its under boxing rules vs a non boxer. Only crossover thats interesting is ngannou vs wilder under boxing and maybe ngannou vs whyte under mma since whyte is a world class kickboxer n thats the medium to mma n boxing
F... Dana white he knows how to market yet is a s... Boss trashes his own champs like arum yet pays them 85-90% less than bud whos #s are worse to equal than ufc womans champs which says alot. Hold out ngannou sign to bellator win belt there n get your boxing match dare i say 2 . give him some no name boxer he obliterates to get experience n add the hype then make the ngannou vs fury wilder or even aj. Id like to see ngannou vs wilder in a barn burner or see if his bigger reach n power lands on chinny aj yet fury f... No thats robbery fight for fury hell just school him dodge him til frances tires then fury will ko him. Least aj chinny to everyone n gets dropped by fat ppl with half his reach (ruiz) so theres intrigue in that fight n wilder not technical n has legendary power like ngannou yet ngannou might hit harder never seen some fly off an uppercut like a movie til him
