    Is Boxing "In trouble"??

There is speculation amongst the boxing community in general, some say that finances are tight in the sport of Boxing based partially on PBC putting lame events on PPV in order to recoup financially.

Questions pop up from time to time on social media asking if the sport of Boxing is in trouble and will it dwindle away soon.

In addition, different combat sports have captured the audience of many worldwide.

I tend to believe Boxing will continue to remain for a long time, it is historically rich and I think with new talent, promoters and companies like Probelle, the sport will continue to push and flourish even.

    Your thoughts.

id say its ups and downs, its a confusing sport for many, led by the wba and wbc with their horrible antics, just give us a damn clear champ and anyone is good enough to take him on, pay him and let him try etc, clarity is always best

That is a very good point.
Yeah there is quite a bit of ******ity in the sport that should get fixed definitely.
But you are right, it's ups and downs.

I think boxing's in an okay place right now but if any of the media companies decide to move on it could get bad really quickly. Top Rank isn't nearly as important to ESPN as the UFC so if they decide to start cutting back on content boxing would an easy target. And PBC is pretty clearly struggling to get enough dates now that Fox is only giving them a few dates.

I'm almost certain that I'd read this very thing back around 1719. There have always been smaller, less historically significant rules combat sports floating around in pockets across the world. They are subject to the very same ebbs and flows that the more culturally enbedded Boxing experiences (It was "Muhammad Ali day" yesterday in several countries). Catch as Catch Can died just prior to the start of the 1st world war because the 30 year sensation ended abruptly when the next generation determined that the scientific ground game was actually mind numingly boring. With the rise of Triad Combat, BKFC, etc., might we be seeing this happen again??? Probably.

            Great breakdown.
You are right, I can only imagine what would happen if media companies decided to cut back on Boxing, that would be a huge blow to the sport.
Yeah I agree, seems like right now the sport is okay as of late

              Interesting breakdown.

Your question on seeing this happen again is in reference to Boxing dying?
Or the other combat sports that you mentioned, BKFC, Triad etc.?

I honestly think that BKFC will be around for a good long while, it is action packed and the best normally fight the best, people flock to that.

I dont think it will consistently do Floyd/Pac era or pre-2000 numbers again, but its not going anywhere either. Its far too established in far too many markets to ever die off completely. And every now and then you will get a star or fight that comes along and attracts mainstream attention.

I don’t know if it’s in real trouble. Boxing has been a niche sport for decades. I don’t think boxing will ever be a front page sport again.

                    Well said man.
I mean, that's a given that it may not reach the Floyd/Pac era again. Yet I think it has the potential to do so.
We simply have to accept as Boxing fans this is a new era and generally-speaking, we have to stop living in yesterday.
There is a wealth of talent out there still to uplift the sport.
But I agree man, I reckon the sport will not die off.
