Engaging in business with a black man in the hope of making money isn’t proof of non-racism. Also, Crawford re-signing with him isn’t proof that Arum isn’t racist either. It wouldn’t be unprecedented for someone, in this instance, Crawford, to choose cash over principles.

But this is besides the key point because I have no idea what Arum is, and i think your sentiment might be on the right track, in that Crawford’s legal case is undermined big time by sticking with him.

Having said that, I think the biggest concern is that most of the big name fighters that leave the Top Rank banner end up suing them. See Pac-Man, Garcia, et al.

Why is that? And doesn’t this lawsuit simply fit in with that pattern? (Albeit with different claims being made)

It's not enough to win a lawsuit, but it was definitely enough to kill the fight, which I believe is why Arum said it! Remember, Manny never said he was scared of needles, Arum did! That delayed the fight! Manny never said he needed an outdoor stadium, Arum did! That delayed the fight! Arum does these things on purpose! Just look at how he flip flopped on Crawford vs. Porter in 2021!

I'm really interested to see how this affects Shakur Stevenson! You know Bud is his mentor! Why doesn't Arum want Shakur vs. Valdez?

Arum Eyes Valdez-Navarrete, Stevenson-Berchelt - Winners Fight Each Other

He wants to match Valdez in a Mexican war with current WBO featherweight champion, Emanuel Navarrete. And he wants to match Stevenson against former WBC champion Miguel Berchelt.

The winners of the two fights would then collide at a later date, says Arum.

"We can suggest it to the fighters. But ultimately it is the fighters and their management who decide who to fight next. I want Valdez to fight Emanuel Navarrete, and to match Shakur against maybe Berchelt, who Valdez beat in a spectacular fight," Arum told Sky Sports.

"We'd see how Shakur does with Berchelt, then we can match the winners. I think that's the way to go. That's what we will suggest to them. I hope to have Shakur back in the ring in March or April. Same thing with Valdez and Navarrete."

Why does he want to do that? When Stevenson was at 126, Bob didn't let him fight Navarette or Valdez! Now that Valdez is champ @ 130, here he goes again! I have a feeling Shakur will be the next man out of Top Rank!

Good luck to Crawford. No way a promoter should talk that way about his own fighter, and at the very least he owes Crawford the money for the fight he didn't schedule.

What about Donald Sterling? Helped make multiple black athletes rich, is racist. You don't think the powerful people in boxing, NBA, NFL etc. are racist? They pay black athletes a lot of money but live in all-white gated communities and ask their friends not to bring black people along to games...

Arum is businessman, he makes money off of fighters, if he pays them well it's because he has no choice. But for a Harvard lawyer, he seems to take a lot of L's in court cases. He thought he couldn't lose vs Wilder in arbitration, thought he'd beat Mikey Garcia in court. Crawford has a great chance of victory here.

The artice says it omits it. Which I understood to mean: neglects to mention it and therefore fails to take it into account.

The lawsuit will be intersting. The beauty of civil law vs criminal law is all that is need d in civil law is a preponderance of the evidence rather than a reasonable doubt, a lower level of proof is needed. Arum lost the arbitration with wilder, his record isn’t so good lately. I think Bob needs to lay it down and enjoy the twilight of his life. Top rank is nowhere near as good as they used to be and I really saw heavy decline on hbo leading up to its boxing demise

People saying accusations of racism are thrown around too much without consequence. But they should be happy this time, because if Crawford is wrong, there are consequences. If he loses the lawsuit he'll have to pay legal fees. So people who dislike him should be happy if they're so sure he'll lose. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't get that far, Arum could seek a settlement. He owed Crawford a fight and failed to deliver, and ESPN probably don't want a big public trial where Crawford's lawyer is gonna get up and list all the things Arum has said and done and show there's a real pattern there.

Remember how Arum spoke about Bradley after the first Pac fight? I disagreed with the judges decision but he talked down Bradley so much, and Bradley was a top fighter who stayed loyal to TR. There are lots of instances like that. When Loma and Shakur sparred and Arum tried to make out Loma dominated even though the fighters said otherwise. All of these things on their own don't mean much but over and over, Arum is the only promoter who talks about his own guys like that, and he only does it with black fighters.

Arum is on record putting down and badmouthing Crawford several times.

                      Bud has a case.
