The truth about Fury being a star

He’s a “star” in the UK, and it ends there.

He’s not popular here in the states.

My thoughts on why I don’t find him interesting, maybe others can relate.

He looks like Humpty Dumpty with that big fat belly waste of his. Has a massive waste size. Just doesn’t look athletic at all, his aesthetic is the next level above Andy Ruiz, barely.

Second, I can’t understand a damn word he says with that fast talking gypsy accent.

Third, he just doesn’t have a likable personality, strikes me as obnoxious. He thinks he’s some charismatic star, and you almost believe it, until you realize he can’t draw flies without Wilder here in the states.

Fourth, he’s a dancer and jabber in the ring. Not really bringing out any fond memories we have of the 90’s heavyweight scene where we had ruthless punchers taking each other’s heads off.

It also doesn’t help that Canelo is in his prime, stealing the boxing spotlight from everyone, putting even the heavyweights in a shadow. He might have a bit more star power if there was a void, without Canelo.

I will say I enjoyed his demolition of Wilder, as Wilder is a delusional skill-less boxer, with annoying fans, but it ends there.

Businessman Fury is facade he not a star ,he’s a champion with enough followers to make noise and he fakes being a huge draw because he’s guaranteed money from ESPN . Whytes going to knock him out if he stops stalling the fight and it will be over .

He’s definitely a name my mainstream sports friends that don’t follow boxing know about.
The Wilder trilogy raised his profile more than even beating Klitchko.
Is he a guy that can carry a PPV fight and do big US PPV buys? Probably not.
But if he gets a unification fight with AJ, or to a lesser extent Usyk, then it would be a major fight and if the Saudi’s are involved he’ll get a major purse.
Before it fell through him and AJ were reportedly set to earn a guaranteed $100 million each.

Whyte ,A.J, Usyk,Joyce and Wallin if he had another shot at him all should be favored to beat him . Wilder was set up to jump start his career and he swindled ESPN out of millions .

I'm actually puzzled why he isn't a star in the UK and Joshua is. Seems like Fury is a better fighter with a bigger personality.

He’s based on a better fighter beating Wilder ,he’s not the better fighter he’s the more protected one . That’s not puzzling .

Canelo, AJ and Fury are clearly the three biggest stars in boxing nowadays as far as actual casual/none boxing fans knowing of them.

                  1) Fury was considered kind of boring and pillow fisted pre-Wilder, while AJ was viewed as a power punching demolition machine
                  2) AJ looked the part
                  3) AJ had olympic success (and those olympics were in held in the UK no less)
                  4) Fury "retired" for years after the Wlad fight so he was out of the picture just as AJ started stepping up and becoming a legit world champ level guy
                  5) The Wilder fights made Fury seem much more entertaining (in the ring) and raised his popularity everywhere, but he hasnt fought in the UK since before the trilogy, and hasnt had a real meaningful fight there since 2014.

Having said all that, Fury is still a household name in the UK, he just doesnt have the history of drawing big there like AJ does. I think if Fury/Wilder 3 had taken place in a UK stadium it would have done AJ level numbers there though.
