Do fans not realize that in his last 4 fights all his opponents were bigger than him and yet Canelo haters cry that he was heavily favored? In a street fight does one gamble on the smaller guy to beat 4 bigger back to back? Or does context skills matter? It’s like cards would protect Smith’s left hook from Canelo

but for me, Usyk had the more "historic" win and the one that fans will remember.
Usyk beat a guy by decision who was one fight removed from being destroyed by a chubby obiesed HW. Joshua hasn't been the same since Ruiz knocked him out.
Canelo beat two undefeated highly ranked guys who had never beeen exposed nor dropped prior to canelo beating them.
SORRY but usyks win over a damaged one fight Removed from being KTFO Joshua has become too overrated.

He fought Saunders who hasn’t fought more than twice in any calendar year since 2013 and whose biggest win is Lemieux a few years ago. Lastly he fought a young champion whose biggest win was against Jose Uzcategui and hasn’t looked impressive since.
So while neither Benavidez nor Charlo have faced hall of fame level opposition either, anyone with any knowledge of boxing who knows what they’re looking at , can tell that Charlo and especially Benavidez would’ve put up better fights than those 3 guys combined because they wouldn’t have stopped trying to win the way his opposition this year did.

Gotta be Canelo overall although as far as singular wins go I got Usyk over Joshua and Kambosos over Teo as better than either of Canelo's biggest wins.

People talking like Canelo should win fighter of the year because he's had a really active year... get a grip of yourself! He only managed to secure these fights because he is the cash cow of boxing, has the WBC supporting him and has promoters bending over backwards for him - all in the midst of a worldwide pandemic for God's sake!! Unfortunately not every other fighter receives the luxury treatment that Canelo gets hence why most have only fought once or at a very max twice in the last 12 months.
If we're actually talking about fighter of the year in ordinary terms than Usyk should win it with Kambosis runner up. Both were underdogs in their fights (Kambosis heavily so) against unified champions with strong resumes and both won... convincingly as well, from start to finish! In Canelo's case I can only afford him credit for beating BJS which was a decent win - the rest was trash... Yildrim, the big stiff punch bag, was lined up for Canelo by the WBC and was recently beaten by some bum called Cullen... and plant was a domestic level bum - should that win you fighter of the year? Absolutely not, especially considering what Usyk and Kambosis achieved and the fact that Canelo's fights were underwhelming until the end came.

[QUOTE=rrayvez;n31256473] I never said he shouldn’t be fighter of the year. I’m just putting his year and opposition into context. I think there are several guys who had individual wins against better opposition than any of Canelo’s 3 opponents, but none fought 3 times. Canelo gets it due to unifying and activity level but if we’re being honest, none of the 3 wins were standout wins.

LMFAO. ***** about canelo being FOTY but agree that he should be FOTY. Cant make this up

he still cleared out a division and has a high activity. this guy has taken fights as short as 90 days from his last fight but people still complain.
i will complain myself if/when he ducks beterbiev but he still has the best resume today.
