People talking like Canelo should win fighter of the year because he's had a really active year... get a grip of yourself! He only managed to secure these fights because he is the cash cow of boxing, has the WBC supporting him and has promoters bending over backwards for him - all in the midst of a worldwide pandemic for God's sake!! Unfortunately not every other fighter receives the luxury treatment that Canelo gets hence why most have only fought once or at a very max twice in the last 12 months.

If we're actually talking about fighter of the year in ordinary terms than Usyk should win it with Kambosis runner up. Both were underdogs in their fights (Kambosis heavily so) against unified champions with strong resumes and both won... convincingly as well, from start to finish! In Canelo's case I can only afford him credit for beating BJS which was a decent win - the rest was trash... Yildrim, the big stiff punch bag, was lined up for Canelo by the WBC and was recently beaten by some bum called Cullen... and plant was a domestic level bum - should that win you fighter of the year? Absolutely not, especially considering what Usyk and Kambosis achieved and the fact that Canelo's fights were underwhelming until the end came.

dude whyte was fighting august 2020 in front of no crowd. people can get fights to stay active, most of these guys were pricing themselves out and waiting for the market to return. they didnt want to take lower pay due to no gate.

Hard to think of someone more deserving than Canelo for 2021 even though his year wasn't all that. Plant and Saunders were pretty good wins...Yilidirim should probably be negative points though, if that was possible ...Who else? Who at the top level has better than 2 pretty good wins?

Usyk and Kambosos each had one win bigger than any Canelo had but that's a different category, I'm thinking, as both were also massive underdogs.

Terrible. Fought 2 feather fisted fighters that he was a heavy favorite over. Unified the division that has been weakest for what, 15 years? Didn't take any fight that people are clamoring for. There were several fighters who legitimately accomplished something in 2021 and shocked the world.

Usyk coming up from CW and becoming a unified Heavyweight champ was an actual accomplishment. This is not like Haye becoming a HW champ against mediocre opposition. Usyk is closer to Holyfield in what he's done.

How about Valdez shocking Berchelt? The PED scandal screws this up, but hell, Canelo survived his and is now winning FOTY after beating Plant.
