Fury is the big star, but 80-20 does seem a tad greedy.

Then again, if Whyte believes he could win, an upset would launch him into the stratosphere of big earnings.

Seeing as it is unlikely he would win, they have to try and get the biggest payday for him. The WBC, who are quite dodgy, would say that he is no longer the interim champion.

Have no idea why people are willing to accept Lewis's retirement as the real breaking of the lineage but his predecessors retiring didn't matter apparently.

So they're openly admitting to slowing down undisputed and trying to cash out Whyte.

From what he said, it sounds like they think 80-20 is not fair and that they think they are being short-changed by the WBA. If, however, an indendent body (i.e. an arbitrator) was to decide 80-20 was fair, they would go along with that. I don't totally trust what Hearn is saying, but on the face of it this doesn't sound unreasonable or contradictory.

Surely no-one is suggesting the lineage does go back way younder? There are many lineages. Each time a lineal champ retires, a new lineage starts, either by someone becoming undisputed or by acclaim as the undoubted best. Lewis is most pertinent, naturally, because he is the most recent 'stop' and shows that Fury's lineage goes back no further than Klitshko being recognised as 'the man' after Lewis' retirement.

(as for Ali retiring, the next 'man' was Holmes, who beat Ali in the ring, so I think Ali's retirement did not ultimately break the lineage).

If he truly has no leg to stand on with an 80/20 split, he most certainly would in the instance of a random change to a 90/10 split.

I'd love to see the fight, but I think Whyte is pricing himself out. Sure, try to get as much money as possible.....but at some point, either take the fight or don't

He needs the money he still got to pay back his lawyers which cost him £1M to get him out of the Rivas scandal

Well people like to spew the garage beat the man who beat the man going back over 100 years... it isn't me who says it, it's a load of shít IMO.

Truth is Wlad is one of most dominant and longest reigning champions in history and arguably would be a better win then anyone Lewis beat for or during his "lineage".

I’m only joking about 90/10. I just dislike Whyte and don’t want to see him get paid lol.

One would imagine that the WBC have already hired lawyers to go over all their paperwork etc and wouldn’t have gone for 80/20 without being confident of defeating any legal challenges.
