It's not surprising Ortiz turned it down. I'm glad the IBF appears to be forcing these guys to declare their intentions out in the open so we don't have phantom claims. Hrgovic accepted, Ortiz declined. It's that simple.
I get why Ortiz declined, it's likely not going to be for all that much purse and it's against a bigger, younger and dangerous opponent. At this point in his career there's not much margin for error to maximize revenue. Ruiz would be good. I really hope it's not Wilder again, there are so many more interesting and compelling fights for both of them.Comment

Some of you are confused. You seem to think that Ortiz doesn’t want to fight the bum Hrgovic. That isn’t the story at all.Comment

If he loses against Ruiz, he still makes more money than if he would lose to Hrgovic. And if he beats Ruiz, he adds a way bigger name to his resume than Hrgovic is.Comment

Think he’d support his fighter to take the fights he needs to take eg the Chisora rematch

Quickest way to a title fight is through Hrg. Last time i checked Ruiz isnt in any position to challenge anything. But then again, Haymon will grease the wba like he usually does and itll magivally become an eliminator.Comment
