I think most are misinterpreting what Joe is saying. He would take the Canelo fight if it is offered to him but he sounds like he won't be waiting around fighting stiffs while waiting for the phone to ring. If he keeps winning he can make a case for a bigger payday, but in reality he has been out skilled in the past.

Sure can tell Joe is a blue collar stand up guy. The type of guy who will probably go back to work when he's finished with boxing.

Yes I'm aware that they fought. I've been holding bivol in high regards for a long time

What is most damning about this is that while Smith Jr’s comments may sound like he only wants big challenges, he’d likely be underdog vs the current Canelo Alvarez.

Lastly, when Canelo speaks like this, he never hears the end of it. For wanting to unify titles. What Smith is saying, there other fighters who would get and have gotten accused of ducking.
The ridicule has nothing to do with unifying and more to do with the level of opposition. Bivol and Beterbiev are 2 guys that canelo has chosen not to face so far, Bivol is someone who canelo only pretended to negotiate with in order to more effectively negotiate with Plant and Beterbiev is someone canelo has yet to even acknowledge. So Smith saying he wants to unify against them is not the same as Canelo saying he was not entertaining fights at mw vs charlo and andrade or at 175 with bivol and Beterbiev in favor of Smith, Saunders and Plant.

Don't worry joe clenelo won't fight you unless he can weigh drain and force other things upon you which gives clenelo all the advantages. he'll never fight you at 100 percent.

Nobody cared about Charlo vs Canelo when he was was at MW. Where did this come from? That’s very random. When Canelo was at 154-160, most fans and media called for fights vs Trout, Mayweather, Lara, GGG, Jacobs, and Andrade. He fought 5 of those 6. Nobody ever cared about Canelo vs Charlo. That’s absurd. The only fights fans have been pushing when it comes to Charlo in the last 5 years is vs GGG and Benavidez. Not Canelo. That’s a new one to me.

In fact every discussion about Reynoso’s interest in a Charlo fight is full of fans saying they don’t care for that matchup.

Secondly, nobody cares about Andrade. No fighter. So don’t single out Canelo. No fighter cares to fight Andrade. Not GGG, not Charlo, not Canelo. Nobody aside from his 15 fans cares about him.

You are okay with Smith Jr ducking Canelo, the #1 P4P fighter, Ring/unified champion at 168, former 175 title holder, but wouldn’t be okay if Canelo did it because you hold Canelo to too high regard.

Forget about Charlo, Andrade, Beterbiev, Bivol or Smith, you fans are naming Canelo in matchups with Oleksandr Usyk, the Ring #1 ranked HW, WBO, IBF, WBA champion. That’s the level you all are putting Canelo at. This guy can’t take a fight from 168 to 199lbs without a group of his critics having something negative to say about it. The expectations from his haters, vs expectations they have of every other fighter, is farfetched at this point.

Never forget that night when Fonfara buzzed him and went in for the kill only to get hammered with a missile of an overhand right that floored the Polish fighter.

After reading this thread, I never want to hear any Canelo fan talk about how Andrade, Benavidez and Charlo need to fight bette competition. Ever. So much is being exposed.
