Honestly it’s on Ortiz himself. He was with Matchroom for 5 months on his way to an Anthony Joshua mega fight and he left town on his own and signed with the guys doing wrong for him making his own choice ended up getting 5/600 K against Wilder instead of 5/6 million for AJ ,even managed to get himself suspended right after he left Hearns contract he terminated .

Haymon is the best thing to happen to Ortiz. All of the promoters before him failed to get him big fights while he was still younger. Especially Hearn.

I agree with most this but don't see how Ortiz fighting bums helps Wilder in any way.

Wilder's leftovers just beat Joshua's leftover....seems like a bonus for Deontay if anything.

Had Ortiz fought and lost to Whyte or Joshua he would have at least been a name on other noteworthy fighter's resumes. Also seems a benefit to me.

Plus, they pushed Stiverne like he was going to do something in the division. I'm not a Bermane hater, but, c'mon, if you're putting a Wilder leftover up against dudes like Povetkin to make Wilder look better....ortiz is a much better former opponent to put in that position and they didn't.

I'm not saying I favor Ortiz over Pov or Joyce, but, damn sure, if I'm using Wilder leftovers to make Wilder look better I'd send Ortiz out way before I did Stiverne.

Just doesn't make sense to hide Ortiz away, push Stiverne out there, and call it the benefit of Wilder's image.

Oscar and GBP are the reason Ortiz became relevant player at HW. Under GBP they worked him up to the point he was headlining HBO cards,beating the likes of Jennings before someone came along whispering in his ear.

PBC has a history of having thier fighters turn down career high pay days in order to benefit the brand more so than the fighters earnings.

Ortiz turning down $7mil for Joshua
Wilder turned down $100-$120mil 3 fight deal
Mall turned down $5-$7 mil for a shot at Canelo
Mall turned down $7 mil Andrade offer
Tank turned down $5mil for a shot at Farmer

I'm sure there's a couple more but you get the picture. I'm not aware of any other high profile fighter,from any other promotional outfit,turning down lucrative offers like that? And these aren't offers to face second rate fighters,these are offers to face the best of the division sans Farmer.
