Ortiz vs Martin will be the biggest non-event in 2022, both C level heavyweights

This fight has no importance at all. Who is Ortiz? He has lost twice to Wilder and Wilder has lost twice to Fury. Maybe three times to Fury. Where does that leave Ortiz? All these fights are in the last 3.5 years. If Fury is a A level fighter, Ortiz is probably C level. Martin cannot be much better. He gave Kownacki a good fight several years ago and took a quick KO from Joshua. A win by Martin would be more impressive, but I don't see any future for the winner in this fight. Is this the same Ortiz who turned down two sweet offers to fight Joshua and Ruiz took the fight and went on to hammer Joshua? I don't see these guys as much more than sparring partners at this stage in their careers.

        Let’s be real though, what HW’s aren’t C level?

Fury is A level, Usyk is maybe A level too.

Wilder and Joshua are B level.

The rest are C level or below. Aside from maybe a few prospects who are potentially above that but are yet to truly prove that.

It’s nowhere near PPV worthy but it’s not a terrible matchup. Ortiz is definitely a top 10 guy and Martin is probably top 20 maybe top 15.

This is so bad it might do worse than Tank's 50k PPV numbers vs Cruz.

            So who is worth watching?

            I think it's a good fight.

I wouldn’t necessarily call Ortiz C level. He’s not elite, but he’s not terrible. Only lost to Wilder, but he nearly KOed Wilder in the first bout and he was pitching a shutout in the 2nd bout until he just got caught.

Ruiz and Parker took Joshua the distance and of course Ruiz won the first match. I think they need to be included with Wilder and Joshua at this time. Ruiz and Parker have never been stopped which gives them some status.

It is not a terrible matchup, and could be entertaining. What is the value to Ortiz if he wins? He declined to take the Joshua fight after Miller tested for drugs so he had his chance and now he claims everyone is ducking him. If Martin wins impressively that would elevate him in the rankings but I don't see how a win for Ortiz moves him up.

I think they’re both C level at best. Ruiz is trash IMO, take away the win over AJ and what else is on that resume? There’s literally nothing, his second best win is either a shot Arreola or a shot Dimitrenko.

Parker is definitely a top 10 guy but he’s a similar level to Ortiz, both decent but not legitimate threats to the top HW’s like Fury, Usyk etc. The HW division is really shallow IMO.

There’s not much value in Ortiz at this point, I do believe he was avoided during his peak though. After he destroyed Jennings nobody wanted that smoke. However, at 42, I doubt there’s enough left in the tank.

Its vaguely interesting in the sense that Ortiz is Wilders career defining win, and these days you rarely get an opportunity to gauge how good he actually is. Then again I suppose he was already old as shyt when he fought Wilder the first time so he is absolutely ancient now.
