Feel like Zurdo was just kind of letting this meaningless fight carry on and went rogue on his corner. Playing down a bit to this opponent.

When Zurdo focused on his jab, movement and listened to his corner, he looked great behind the jab, doing what he wanted against the Cuban.

Feel he’ll be much more hyper aware and in tune with a much more serious opponent like Bivol. Still I see Bivol as the slight favorite, but Bivol hasn’t looked that great to me either. Especially with his competition, but they’re both lacking in decent competition I guess.

I agree that Zurdo fought down to Gonzalez level and went to war but as I recall he did similar things with Hart too. I just think it's in Zurdo's DNA that he can be drawn into firefights. It may not come into play against Bivol but I have to think it would be a mistake to do the same with Beterbiev.

I think Zurdo needs to fight the top, top guys to bring the best out of himself. Bivol was garbage in a fight in England about a year ago, worst I have seen him by a mile, and again, a case of going stale and fighting beneath his ability. These guys aren't big enough names/moneymakers not to fight each other. Looking back, Holyfield was another guy who would fight to the level of opponent. Edging out fights he should be winning easily.

Beterbiev is a beast, but he is also stuck in treacle. A sharp-shooter like Canelo makes easy work of him imo. Mark the words of the great Nash on that view. I think Beterbiev beats Bivol and 50-50 on Zurdo as I think there is more in the Zurdo tank than what we have seen. Nash out.

For sure it would be a massive mistake lol.

honestly, if I was to go back to ********, I wouldn’t bet on any of these 175lb fights with Zurdo, Bivol or Artur. Gun to my head I pick Artur to beat them all, but I wouldn’t be that confident either.

As crazy as it sounds, I would only bet on Canelo if he were to fight any of them, even against Artur.

But all 3 (Zurdo, Bivol, Artur) against each other, hell no. Too unpredictable.

Make it happen. Tired of watching him fighting domestic level UK or Soviet fighters.

Sure he doesn`t. Bivol beats them all at 175, he probably beats Beterbiev also.

Possibly. But he needs to take the fights and make it happen. For whatever reason, Bivol doesn't seem to keen on fighting Ramirez. Hopefully wba mandate it next.

                  Hopefully.

Bivol fought and beat Pascal and Smith jr, both better guys than Ramirez IMO. I don`t feel like he ducks Ramirez.

I appreciate your perspective. I was never particularly impressed with Ramirez @168 but I'm not convinced that Smith is better than him. I'm not saying Bivol is "ducking" him but he just doesn't seem keen on actually taking the fight. I definitely think his career has lost momentum under Hearn, which is a shame. Possibly Hearn influencing him with the lure of a possible canelo fight, I don't know but Bivol should have been fighting better guys than he has imo. Thanks.

Knee jerk reaction to a fighter not looking really good in his win over a seemingly worse opponent.

After B-Hop fought Calzaghe and lost by controversial decision while looking every bit of 43 year old self, no one gave him a chance against his next opponent, undefeated Kelly Pavlik. Nobody. Nobody saw that coming. I predicted Hopkins will win by decision and I felt everyone was crazy to think Pavlik is anywhere near Hopkins level. It was very surreal to be virtually alone in my prediction. With maybe like 10 other posters predicting it.

I remember even Freddie Roach refused to train Hopkins, told him to retire and that if he fights Pavlik he is going to end up with serious brain injuries or even death. Odds makers had Hopkins as the clear underdog.

It was quite amusing for young 19 year old me to see even boxing experts/coaches exaggerating the hell out of Pavlik’s wins over Miranda and Taylor. People who have been in boxing for decades, not giving the clearly superior fighter, Bernard Hopkins, a chance.

Fcking crazy. I wish I could find my rants about how little fans know about boxing and how Hopkins is going to beat the breaks off of Pavlik. I was going around Youtube and Boxingscene, mad as hell, arguing with everyone. Fans arrogantly predict fights wrong and even laugh at other’s who got it right.

With that said, I am not at all saying Ramirez will beat Bivol. Bivol could very well school Zurdo. Or Zurdo could just surprise everyone and beat Bivol. I don’t know. I don’t have a prediction yet. Just pointing out the very common knee jerk reaction fans tend to have about fighters/performances/predictions. Where they end up being totally wrong. Fans tend to exaggerate wins, losses, KO’s, upsets. Chances are, fans would write Bivol off as one of the best at 175 if Zurdo beats him. That’s the sad state of boxing.
