"Last night" Zurdo has problems with any top dogs... and any contender with a ****... He looked vulnerable for most of the fight ...

After B-Hop fought Calzaghe and lost by controversial decision while looking every bit of 43 year old self, no one gave him a chance against his next opponent, undefeated Kelly Pavlik. Nobody. Nobody saw that coming. I predicted Hopkins will win by decision and I felt everyone was crazy to think Pavlik is anywhere near Hopkins level. It was very surreal to be virtually alone in my prediction. With maybe like 10 other posters predicting it.

I remember even Freddie Roach refused to train Hopkins, told him to retire and that if he fights Pavlik he is going to end up with serious brain injuries or even death. Odds makers had Hopkins as the clear underdog.

It was quite amusing for young 19 year old me to see even boxing experts/coaches exaggerating the hell out of Pavlik’s wins over Miranda and Taylor. People who have been in boxing for decades, not giving the clearly superior fighter, Bernard Hopkins, a chance.

Fcking crazy. I wish I could find my rants about how little fans know about boxing and how Hopkins is going to beat the breaks off of Pavlik. I was going around Youtube and Boxingscene, mad as hell, arguing with everyone. Fans arrogantly predict fights wrong and even laugh at other’s who got it right.

With that said, I am not at all saying Ramirez will beat Bivol. Bivol could very well school Zurdo. Or Zurdo could just surprise everyone and beat Bivol. I don’t know. I don’t have a prediction yet. Just pointing out the very common knee jerk reaction fans tend to have about fighters/performances/predictions. Where they end up being totally wrong. Fans tend to exaggerate wins, losses, KO’s, upsets. Chances are, fans would write Bivol off as one of the best at 175 if Zurdo beats him. That’s the sad state of boxing.
It's not just last night, it's that you all say that resumes matter, well Zurdo is a very good fighter but his resume is TERRIBLE, the one time he stepped it up was against Jesse Hart, he struggled both times. Look at what Joe Smith did to Jessee Hart, he battered the **** out of him. And Bivol throughoutly humiliated Joe Smith as well as other fighters on or above Joe's level like Pascal, Chilemba.

Bottom line is Bivol wins the eye test and resume competition easily, he looks far more dominant against BETTER competition.

To me this isn't a knee jerk reaction, it's just a pattern consistent with Ramirez.

Ehhh... I wouldn't jump to that conclusion based on last night. First off Bivol can't punch for CHIT.

          Make It happen.

How many shots will land on Bivol though ? Zurdo last night looked very vulnerable to angle shots and counters ....Horrible stance and bad footwork... Bivol would splatter last night Zurdo...

I agree Bivol would probably tattoo "Zurdo".
But the Cuban last night got "Zurdo's" respect right off the bat with his POP.

I say... Make It happen & let's see.

I'm fine with this fight but resume wise Beterbiev and Bivol really have proved they are by far the 2 top dogs at 175 so let them fight first please. Then Zurdo can get the winner if he really wants and keeps winning.

I think Bivol's lack of power is a bit exaggerated. He's a decent puncher when he chooses to be but he's always moving in and out and not really sitting down on his shots or willing to take unnecessary risks.

Of course, he doesn't have that raw power like Beterbiev, and Zurdo likely hits harder than Bivol. But I'd still consider him a boxer-puncher rather than a pure boxer.
