UKAD can randomly test any UK boxer at any time, 365/7. But due to lack of funding, a boxer can go all year without being tested at all. The same problem applies to VADA 365 though, which is why fighters and promoters often pay for VADA advanced, with extra random testing for both guys in the lead up to a big fight. UKAD also step up the testing for UK boxers in the lead up to big fights, which is why Whyte was being tested by both UKAD and VADA before the Rivas fight.

I don't think UKAD have any program like that. But like I said in my previous post, they will target UK licensed boxers with extra random testing before a big fight.Last edited by kafkod; 12-10-2021, 12:19 PM.Comment

My understanding is that the fighter pays for VADA 365? Surely that guarantees testing?

You're making it sound like UKAD does a lot of random testing of Oro boxing in the UK. I don't think that's the case.Comment

UKAD's confidentiality rules mean they don't say anything about their tests unless somebody fails. Even then, the only people they inform are the fighter concerned and the promoter of the fight.Comment

Those rules only apply to athletes within a "testing pool".

I appreciate your perspective, however it seems like we have a different view regarding the efficacy of drug testing within British professional boxing and I don't want to go back-and-forth any more. Thanks.Comment

I'm not even big into these heavyweight divisions. But I can't dislike these types of fighters.
He made a lot of money and can retire in style if he wants to. Obviously, it's not only the money for him.
Unlike others, who haven't even made that kind of money, had 1 to 2 loses and they're already thinking
of retiring. Some can't even stay active due to fear of losing. So.......Comment
