  • Shane Mosley's HUGE mistake

Please listen to this post-fight interview. Comments below.

Floyd has just moved up to 140 pounds. He was aggressively pursuing a fight with Shane Mosley (or Oscar). FMJ was willing to move up to 147 to meet Shane at his weight. At 147. No catchweight. Shane ignored him.

So, Shane goes and fights David Estrada, Jose Luis Cruz, Fernando Vargas (super-shot), Vargas (again!!), and Luis Collazo. That string effectively wasted two years of Shane’s career. In his 30’s.

During that time period, Mosley watched FMJ get big fight after big fight and become the P4P #1. Mayweather picked up the WW title anyway, and his run culminated in two mega-paydays with Oscar and Ricky.

Now, Floyd is in the driver’s seat, and he is ignoring Shane. PBF feels he doesn’t need Mosley anymore. Whether it was SM’s decision, or bad management by Jin, avoiding Mayweather at that pivotal point in time really hurt his career.

Shane had the opportunity to fight a guy who was much smaller, in a big money fight. He turned it down.

The thing is, Shane did NOT learn. He turned down another Mayweather fight when he had a chance (@ 2:15):

Was Mosley really talking about taking trips and about his tooth when Merchant said it would be the "biggest payday of his career"?

Mosley didn't want to say "my bosses Oscar and Richard want Mayweather to fight Oscar instead of me", so he talked about vacation and dental appointments.

Mosley turned down/Ignored a fight with Mayweather not once but two different occasions when Floyd was ready to fight him. Floyd should just ignore him now the way he ignored Floyd.

First his tooth hurts, then he needs vacations, but what about the time when Mayweather was calling you out at lightweight? Excuses. There is no point fighting Mosley now as he will be 39 years old next year, I would rather see Floyd facing the winner of Pacquiao-Cotto because Mayweather vs Pacquiao or Mayweather vs Cotto will both be great fights.

lmao.that's blatant ducking right there.anybody who says otherwise is kidding themselves. a ****ing vacation?did beating a shot vargas really merit a ****ing vacation?shane's current predicament is his fault.before he took on all comers for the principle.now he's desperate for a big money fight.

That was the 2006 excuse. What was the rationale for not taking the fight back in 2005 when Floyd was willing to MOVE UP to fight him?
