No, I'm asking if there is a history of UK boxing commentators being anti-Russian (or anti-Kazakh in this case
Are you really asking about a history or UK-Russia relations? I would think you would be well aware of the cold war that has gone on between the two of them over the past 6 or so decades.

Not to mention that UK commentators generally don't know sh.it about boxing. Look at the fighters they overhype for crying out loud. They hardly know their elbow from their *******.
)?
Are Mexican boxing commentators anti-Russian too? Because they certainly aren't blindly pro-Canelo. Just look at what Marquez and Barrera have said about him in the past.Last edited by ShoulderRoll; 11-29-2021, 01:11 PM.Comment

Marquez and Barrera are honest they're just speaking facts and truth. People are sick and tired of Canelo calling himself the face of boxing but nt fighting the best competition. When floyd was the face of boxing he fought p4p top 10 fighters all the time and took big risks. Marquez and Barrera are nt ****** they now this,

But yes I would say both of those two countries could have a bias for a Mexican or American fighter, and against an Eastern European fighter.
I think a lot of people were viewing GGG as the 'boogeyman' at that time, so overrating a performance against him as better than it was is understandable in a way.
Against the expectations, Jacobs definitely won. Rd by rd, he lost. Those 2 things are very clear.
Some people love a story and get caught up in the over-performing.Comment

Second fight was close, I think Canelo edged it. First fight I thought it was 8-4, 7-5 GGG. Difficult to give Canelo even a draw in that one tbhVirtually everyone agrees that GGG won the first fight.
The 2nd fight, I scored very similar to the first. GGG just outworked Canelo similarly to the first fight. He was too active.
The scorecards in the 2nd fight, were enough to BARELY give Canelo a win. One round different on either of the 7-5 Canelo cards, and you have a draw.
We all know Canelo gets great cards in his fights, with the Vegas judging.
Basically, someone saying that GGG won both fights is (not only obvious imo) but very reasonable.
But if you make that comment that GGG won both cleanly, you have all these crybaby Canelo fans coming at you like you just ran through their neighborhood yelling something about their fat mom or something.
two of the most high level fights in ages. Really great fightsComment
