Golovkin vs Benavidez would be something wild, sadly just a fantasy, it won't happen.

Sad thing is a 40yr old GGG would still be the best fighter Canelo has faced in years

We all know GGG does not dwell on it, he also does not dwell on the fact that he refuses to fight a live body anymore at 160, instead choosing paydays, not only that he thinks he's the a side and always wants a ton of concessions. Delusional comes to mind.Mexican_Puppet likes this.

If he beats Murata, which is likely, I'd want him to fight Andrade early spring around his 40th birthday and then retire win or lose. Even at 40 he should be a favorite to beat Andrade, especially if he shows himself well with Murata. A 33 y.o. version of GGG would have walked through current Andrade within 9 rounds, it wouldn't have been even close. Now - who knows... No need for the 3rd fight with Canelo, Canelo will beat him and, likely, convincingly. At 40. Because when GGG was 35 & 37, Canelo still didn't manage to convincingly beat him the 2nd time (and he clearly lost the first one, don't even argue that). And then Canelo decided to wait GGG out for sure this time. Nobody at 40 from past ATGs would have beaten current Canelo, so that's just not a fair contest for GGG. But a fabulous retirement fight that will set him and generations of his descendants for their lives (not that GGG isn't set now).
