Its speculation but I just do not see how anyone who goes through what Spence has been through is or would be at their best or close enough to it.

He also has real trouble making the weight, it'll be at least 18 months out the ring and coming off a surgery by the time he is back. Can he still safely make WW?

Too many questions surrounding Spence for me to get hyped about it still.

Crash or not,I don't believe Spence could or would've KO'd Danny. That boy's got a granite chin and has never been down in his career, even Matty couldn't crack that chin. The fight still needs to happen and it's clearly the fight between the two best fighters at 147. Not directed at you but i can see some posters are already lining up the excuses to discredit a possible Crawford win just as they did with Porter.

As far as Bud moving up to fight either Mell or Castano idk homeboy,as talented as he is,that's an extremely tall task that I'd think would prove to be too much. Wouldn't mind it but it be akin to Canelo going up to fight Beter or Bivol and there's a reason why he's not...

Spence didn't look a killer in his last several fights, certainly not the puncher we thought and he's coming off another serious career threatening injury and won't have fought in Christ knows how long.
The ship has sailed for me. The fight needed to happen 2 years back when both at their peak.
I agree, it's unfortunate that the fight didn't happen earlier. Circumstances outside of normal boxing politics (pandemic, car crash, eye injury) coupled with traditional BS (greed, pride, promotional impasse, etc) prevented this fight from happening and happening when it should have. I will let others point fingers and assign blame although I think there's plenty to go around for all parties involved.

Maybe Spence isn't diminished but the fact there is doubt robs us of something should they ultimately face each other. I'd still watch the fight if it happens but probably not with the same buzz if it happened earlier.

i said years ago on here that they should have fought when crawford moved into the division after 1 warm up fight, i got crucified saying it needed to marinate, it would turn into a superfight, well this is the result, fights no bigger than it was back then and spence crashed his car. with their personalities it would never be a huge fight, the press conference would send a glass eye to sleep. crawford also looks a level above spence now, who i didnt think beat porter

Crawford's everything you could ask for in a top fighter so I don't know where all the doubt is coming from. It's like people are taking credit from what Crawford's accomplished because Spence put a damper on the fight with his alcohol abuse, car accident and the torn retina. It's HIS fault, not Crawford's.

Crawford's out of his promotional contract and he put on his best performance against a guy in Porter who is known for making fights ugly. Again, this man takes care of his body between fights, he fights on a CONSISTENT basis and he gets the job done against anybody placed in front of him.

In my opinion, that's the definition of a real fighter! Every division needs this type of fighter....at least one. The fight only lost luster because Spence ruined it, NOT because of Bud. We're sitting here acting like it's Bud's fault that Spence doesn't have real friends around him who won't let him drive drunk. I just can't get past that part. NO real friends, yet, all we see him around is rappers and hoodlums.

The prognosis is clear on Spence and compared to Crawford, this man just ISN'T as dedicated to the sport. You can stand Crawford next to nearly ANY fighter and I BET he gives the sport more time and effort than the rest. Spence just isn't a dedicated fighter and it seems as though he wants us to forget about the fact that he was driving drunk. People only gave him a second chance because no one else got hurt in the accident.
